And not a peep about this on the Translink website, which is an issue compounded further by the unusual situation of the City Hopper continuing to service the old QUT terminal but the CityCats moving to the new one.

Today I noticed a sign at UQ stating that the new ferry terminal is opening on Monday. Kudos to BCC for integrating the ferry stop with UQ Lakes.

Indeed, I meant to post this yesterday.  Good news!

Would probably be a good time to update the Citycat and Ferry map now that they've finished shifting the terminals around. Still shows UQ at the old location, same for Bretts Whaft and Milton was added with the dot in the middle of the river....

Brisbanetimes --> Free rides on the cards as CityCat crews prepare for industrial action

I find this sort of action a little bit odd given that the ticketing system isn't set up in a way that would affect and/or benefit the passengers in any meaningful way (unless they are exclusively using the ferries only).  I know that it won't affect me as by the time I board a CityCat (normally to head over to QUT from Southbank), I've already paid for zone 1 via the train, so TransLink still gets the funds regardless, it wouldn't affect TransLink and the State Government for that matter either, the only revenue they would lose is those using the Citycats only.

Brisbanetimes --> Serious staffing questions asked over Brisbane's CityCat service

QuoteUnions claim Brisbane's CityCats are being run at "minimum staff levels" to save money and will stage a protest on Tuesday morning that could mean 16,000 commuters may not have to pay CityCat or ferry fares on Tuesday morning.

Around 100 union members who run Brisbane's CityCats and ferries have decided not to turn on CityCat ticket machines.

However other staff will on Tuesday run the Go-Card machines, collect the money and validate the Go-Cards.

Fairfax Media understands the Maritime Union workers – who comprise most CityCat crews - are angry too many CityCats are operating with two staff; one master and one crew.

The union insists the agreement between Brisbane City council and Transdev – which operates the CityCat and ferry fleet for BCC – maintains three staff are required; one master and two crew ...

Wish for 2179...I mean 2016, Nightlink Cross River Ferry Services from after midnight to 5am Sat and Sun morning or, just build the "delayed" Thornton St [thereabouts] bridge to Eagle St - does it really need to cost so much   :-w
SEQ, where our only "fast-track" is in becoming the rail embarrassment of Australia!   :frs:

verbatim9

Yeah I noticed being in Bulimba on Sunday eve the best option was ferry not bus. Makes sense a Nightlink service Northbourne. Or maybe just a few more bi-directional services until 2am?
