Ye saints in heaven, somebody just got off the Great Circle Line at the Mt Coot-Tha Botanic Gardens! (Well, I think it's pretty noteworthy, anyway!)

lol yes that is newsworthy...i think every time i have gone thru cootha not one person jumpedd off and on a very rare occasion a person jumps on.

Had to get from browns plains plaza to redbank station today.

bad connection big time with the arriving 534 from grand plaza and departing 526 to redbank.A lovely 40 minutes wait at springfield orion.

it would be good to see the 534 bus route changed to better create a more reliable cross town connection between browns plains and redbank/ipswich line.

How sad it is when it is quicker to go all the way back up to sunnybank and great circle it to sherwood then catch the train back south to redbank :pr

the 534 also does not work in well with the 545 going to garden city either.

Shows that there is little slack in the system.  But at least it is getting everyone at RB&WH & RCH, which you had previously blogged was not happening outside of semester and additional trips on the 66 will come about with uni semester.  I'm not prepared to write off the latest changes yet.

Are you going to show me the troll for that one?

Anyone know when QUT grades get released? Pretty sure UQ has been a bit busier in the last week after our results got released on the 4th July. Students have 5 days (working days and weekends) to put in an application for a supp exam and so many want to check with lecturers about how badly they went and whether their exam was properly marked.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

i have a flatmate who goes to gardens point and it seems they got them around the same time as UQ

two 598 buses turned up within 5 mins of each other @ sherwood station around 3.40ish........by the time we got to henson road @ salisbury they were directly behind each other  :-c

They were released on the Monday just gone.  I managed to pass every unit! :D

one afternoon this week I was on an i/b 124 service, travelling along Beaudesart Rd/Ipswich RD ,at the same time an i/b 125 service  was ahead of  the bus I was on ,or my bus would overtake this one  at a stop, also saw an i/b 115 service same time travelling same route! there are too many stops along this route too close together.

Route 554 this morning - an interesting "solution" to an out of order Go Card Reader. Driver told me it had been logged a couple of days ago.

O/B Toowong stop has been moved from the current location outside the RE to approximately opposite the I/B stop, as part of a trial (and about time might I say). No information on the TransLink website yet...

Not sure I'm in favour.  That makes it further from the train station.  So now you have to walk further in both directions.

Wonder what the actual reason is

congestion issues eg: buses pulling out from stop?
too many drunks from the RE? :P

I have never used the stop, but where it was it effectively acted as a third lane going into the intersection. But there was no bus light provided so they could only leave when everyone else did, which then made matters worse when you got just past the intersection where cars park in the lefthand lane on High Street meaning everyone has to merge into the one right hand lane.

somebody

Because no one gets booked for not letting in a bus, then.

The issues you raise GW are only a problem because of people not following the law, including police.

Golliwog

I think that the buses usually get out into the left lane fine but there's no law about having to let buses or cars merge into the right lane which is where the problem is.

I'm not so sure about that.  The road rules make no such distinction.

They certainly do.  http://www.legislation.qld.gov.au/LEGISLTN/CURRENT/T/TrantOpRURR09.pdf Section 77

Quote77 Giving way to buses
(1) A driver driving on a length of road in a built-up area where
the speed limit applying to the driver is not more than 70km/h,
in the left lane or left line of traffic, or in a bicycle lane on the
far left side of the road, must give way to a bus in front of the
driver if—
(a) the bus has stopped, or is moving slowly, at the far left
side of the road or in a bus-stop bay; and
(b) the bus displays a give way to buses sign and the right
direction indicator lights of the bus are operating; and
(c) the bus is about to enter or proceed in the lane or line of
traffic in which the driver is driving.
Maximum penalty—20 penalty units.
(2) In this section—
left lane, of a road, means—
(a) the marked lane nearest to the far left side of the road
(the first lane) or, if the first lane is a bicycle lane, the
marked lane next to the first lane; or
(b) if there is an obstruction in the first lane (for example, a
parked car or roadworks) and the first lane is not a
bicycle lane—the marked lane next to the first lane.
left line of traffic, for a road, means the line of traffic nearest
to the far left side of the road

somebody

What prevents the bus from having priority when attempting a double lane change outside the RE?  The bus is in the far left lane and cannot proceed beyond the traffic lights in the left lane due to the row of parked cars.

There might be something.

heading back from goodna station and needed to get to salisbury east.

started checking timetables @ goodna and found this very impressive connection (sarcasm)>>>> inbound train arrives sherwood 6.15 pm /last 598 to salisbury leaves sherwood 6.09  <<<< why am i not surprised ::)

Kind of cheesed me off so i said righto theres no way in **%&^ im going back into the city and then back out.
Lets see what the corinda 104 can do for me.

Train arrived corinda 6:13pm. 104 leaves @ 6:18  <<<< nice connection :-t
1o minutes to park rd @ yerongpilly (just past the station(driver was courteous enough to drop me off)
Driver then said walk straight ahead past the roundabout and you will hit ipswich rd/beudesert rd.
All up from park rd roundabout to cnr beaudesert/ipswich rd was about 8 minutes walk where i connected with the 125
10 minutes to salisury east and voila!
Total time saved as opposed to doing the roma st/120 buz boomerang - 20 - 30 mins.

In a nutshell....that trip has the makings of a good cross town connection and makes better use of the 110/117/24/125 routes. If only the 104 could be adjusted to get it a little closer to ipswich rd near the ipswich/beudesert rd road junctions.

I caught a 29 from UQ Lakes to Park Rd @ ~2.00pm today. Didn't get a pic, but while there was a few empty seats, there were about 6 standees. Most passengers got off at Park Rd. There was a 169 that was sitting at UQ Lakes and left just before the 29 as well.

Good. It means the 29 is doing its job and people are getting the hint that taking up space on the 109/39/69 and 209 inconveniences others.

Going through Roma St-Merivale bridge tunnel on the 7.04 ex FG express this morning, noticed a P88 heading outbound with standees visible. Obviously unclear as to where these pax came from, but could be evidence of the usefulness of the connection this route provides.

@ buranda 5pm for 5 mins waiting for p119, noted the following outbounds

p141 - 100% full
p133 - 50 % full
p207 - 80% full
p119 - 60% full
p217 -15% full

somebody

Hmm, so the p141 doesn't fail that badly, if that data is normal.

Standees on P88 everyday, both directions. Nothing new.

Not when I've used it.  Perhaps Milton workers help it - I didn't use it in that direction.

I still think the Milton connection is better provided by more trains.

Cultural Centre congestion backing back to William St/North Quay at 18:06 last night.  Ekka services aren't helping.

Photo from my phone:

If this is useful, I could probably get some more.
