Just a heads up that big changes are happening towards the end of the month. Including a long awaited BUZification  ;)

My money is on Wynnum Road

I'll place my bet on 100 BUZ  ::)

Kicking goals!
My money is on BUZ 450 Centenary Suburbs. Total black hole out there!

Mr X

It can't be BUZ330 as that is happening with the opening of the northern busway...

I'd like to see a BUZ100 to be honest, if not then a BUZ180 or 230. I'm gonna be p%ssed  if it's the 204.

I concur with TT as well, BUZ450 wouldn't go astray either!

Most likely the 100, if it is the 204 heads will roll, I really would like to see a bus 245

Lol, you and your 245 route number.  I have an inkling that number will be going to Veolia for a local run.  If anything you'll get a 220BUZ eventually, or a 227 BUZ (modified), definitely not a '245' as that's allocated to Veolia.  ;)

In addition, I don't see the need to invent a new route.  Just BUZ the 227.  Modify it if you want.

While I hope Wynnum Rd gets a BUZ, I think 109 and 100 have a better chance. 204 had a Sunday frequency increase already, so I don't think it will change again.

why BUZ the 109?, its fine

BUZ 450
BUZ 2XX (Wynnum Road)
BUZ 100

are probably the most pressing gaps in the BUZ network.

GCL BUZ
Stafford Rd Cross-Town

Once that is done much of the Core Frequent Network for buses at least will be in place.
Next task will be rail.

Because of when it starts and stops, especially on weekends. In peak and during the day, I see no need to increase it's frequency. However, I don't see any reason this would be high up any priority list, though given it's already pretty much BUZ standard it would be fairly easy to do.

I'm thinking the new BUZ/big changes may have something to do with the Eastern Region consultation they did (http://railbotforum.org/mbs/index.php?topic=6515.0).

I agree - it was much easier when there actually was a network plan you could look at to at least get an idea of their priorities.

For that matter, in the annual report I recall seeing a picture of a front cover for what appeared to be the mythical 2011 TransLink Network Plan - never seen this publication available anywhere though.

109 is even fine on weekends 20 min is fine, no need for it to be running until 11pm if you need to get to UQ just get the 412.

169 really could be buzzed though.
Anything to fix up the eastern region would be great.

Got to agree with these comments.  It's the connection to the rest of the city that needs to be sorted out, rather than a different route from the actual CBD.  Having more trains through Park Rd would reduce the need for the 109 even more as you can interchange and its faster.

I had a feeling the 180 was another potential BUZification. I wonder if the route got straightened though.

The extra 174/175s are probably added to alleviate the heavy peak loadings. Nothing said to fix the evening and Sunday frequencies. I'll wait until the new timetable comes out to see what's actually changed.

I doubt the Eastern Suburbs will get much of an upgrade, except to fix up the 590 run times which are impossible to run reliably Monday to Friday..
There is no room for more buses to be housed at Carina during the resurfacing works that are expected to be in progress for many months.. 21 bus parks have been lost during these works until completion.

Major need (IMO) is for it to cover Cavendish Rd between Chatsworth Rd and Holland Rd, rather than covering Logan Rd which is already covered by 174/175 (and could be covered by the 170 also).

The 180 was a BUZ candidate before there was such thing  :-t I will say the other new BUZ has been mentioned in previous posts.

Which makes it 100, 450 or Wynnum Rd. Latter is very unlikely.

Mr X

A guy on ATDB said translink planners are looking at a Centenary BUZ in late 2011- 450 must be it then!

wow possibly 4 Buzes this year, time to reforecast, we will now have those 100 Buzes in 25 years not 50  ;D. One thing that I have to give credit for is that at least bus wise they seem to be adding more buses and services as buses come online rather than the once a year update we used to see.

Should get a few of those planners into refining other non bus routes though.

I hope not on the current 450 route though.  Although I suspect that it will be.  Seems to entrench a mediocre route - the whole Centenary region needs a major shake up.  I guess that could be the same story with the 180, although it is less severe.

#Metro

Once the Core is in place (not long to go buswise actually BUZ 330 / 100 / wynnum road / 450 possibly also 230/235 and 375) you can start a) shortening some of the suburban routes and the re-investing that in high frequency in the suburbs. Concentration of patronage would probably also take the BUZ routes to say 10 minutes all day (imagine that!) and larger vehicles. And B) start fixing up the cross-suburban links.

Once that's done-- move on to trains!

Multitask  8)

Out of curiosity how are timetables handled does BCC and QR make there timetables and send them to translink or does translink make them and QR and BCC just run to them?
"Where else but Queensland?"

somebody

To my knowledge BCC & QR make their own timetables, but for private operators, TL make the timetables.

May I suggest that it is no coincidence that the "connecting buses" list shown at the South Bank terminals in the latest version of the ferry network map (which appear to be BUZ routes plus the Glider, 66 and 109) includes both the 100 and the 180?

If the 100 is BUZed then the only remaining 1xx BUZ candidate would be the 110.

Perhaps it's time for the rest of Brisbane to see some upgrades.
