Why not FFS?

Easy, they aren't Queensland Rail employees, and QR has strict internal security rules (I remember having to be tested on them years ago  :hg)

SurfRail

One more reason why QR should stop existing off by itself.

I was thinking on my morning commute, BT buses are (mostly) all air conditioned, but are also perhaps 1/3 glass. On a sunny day you can feel the heat coming through that glass easily from the other side of the bus, and the air conditioner works overtime to keep on top of it. Which made me wonder if the fuel burned by the air con is still less than that required to carry round the extra weight of double glazed windows, if they were fitted. Just a random musing.

HappyTrainGuy

Don't forget their engines are also running hotter to be more fuel efficient.

Oh so the 300 will become a buz/rapid/high frequency service?

I take any commitment from BCC with respect to buses as utter bullsh%t sadly.

Plenty of prior form with Legacy Way - 2000 daily express buses

Anti-bus network reform Quirk et al.

They only see solutions in terms of massive infrastructure.  Unable to take the right steps.

I note the ALP Candidate has already said they will rip up the KSD contract.  Good luck with that.

Hi-frequency buses have been possible along Kingsford Smith Drive since the first BUZ route was rolled out over a decade ago.

What an absolute berk you have running your city.

All you need to run BUZ routes is a road and bus stops - no additional lanes required! Sure, reliability may take a hit, but it isn't like KSD is the most congested road in Brisbane (it isn't).
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

I think the 300 should be rerouted/buzzed and run bi direction Racecourse road left into and up Kent St then Allen St Nudgee road Remora Road then right into Hercules St/Harbour Road then back onto Kingsford Smith Drive on the cnr of Racecourse road.

Do we need to go down this path and have a protected cab for bus drivers?

Queensland Times --> Elderly residents plead with TransLink to reinstate route

Letter to the Editor Queensland Times

Dear Editor,

I note with sad interest the problem of the 515 bus services now not being permitted to service Warrill Park Lawn Cemetery (Cemetery Run Hits Dead End, QT Dec 14).

The 515 bus runs out to Willowbank are only every hour. Surely some of these services, out of peak, could be designated to service the Cemetery?

This is very distressing to citizens and needs to be resolved as Cr David Pahlke has indicated.

Yours sincerely,

Robert Dow

rode this tonite...w1599 doing a 110 outbound. Apparently they are on a 6 month trial.Very nice interior but not too sure on effective use of space
First point of note....no secure storage area for groceries or luggage so they will have to go under the seats.Lcd clock for people wanting to know the time ??? Better access to stop buttons.

Well they've got the full side destination display and double-leaf doors at the back - something SurfRail's called for on this forum many times. Good work in that respect. :-t

Will be interesting to see how the trial goes. I think it'll take a while for me to warm towards the look of the bus though.

I like the look personally, much better than the tissue box with wheels in the post above.

It's still in the wrong livery though...

I like it. Destination signs are great on the side and extra tinting is good to keep the cabin cool and dim for smart phone and tablet users. Are these Wi-Fi enabled? I have been on a few busses from Toowong depot Wi-Fi enabled via a sponsor.

BrizCommuter

The 66 (to RBWH) was observed to leave behind around 40 passengers at Roma Street yesterday at 8:30am. Dwell times were atrocious due to front door only loading. Maybe the 66 should be running every 4 minutes instead of 5?

HappyTrainGuy

Maybe they should send the 111s to the RBWH like some of us have been saying for ages.

SurfRail

At the rate things are going it might be that both the 111s and 222s extend there.  Terminating space shouldn't be that much of an issue.

Maybe BT need some biartics for the 66. Could they navigate the busway though?

Minor mods.   Bring on the electric super-buses .. Cost is trivial compared to the  .. ' Metro ' ...

Maintenance at King George Sq Station needs attention I think, Platform 2 both Up escalators are out of order and it seems the aircon is as well.

Those escalators at KGS seem to go out of order quite regularly!? Air con was freezing in there yesterday. Maybe compressor overworked yesterday? Faulty thermostat?

Otto

I always notice that it is freezing cold in KGSBS when I open the doors to let passengers board, particularly platform 2... and yes, the escalators do regularly break down way too often..

QuoteMater Hill bus way station is an absolutely horrendous choke point after 3pm weekdays. Buses queued up in the tunnel right back to South Bank station. Takes up to 15mins to get through. What's the plan to fix this?

facebook comment of which i can confirm the poster is 100% correct on the actual time it takes to get from southbank to mater around 3pm.....theres a minimum 7 min wait and in the extreme up to 15 mins......clearly caused by the excessive amount of school students as well as a little kick along from people transferring off/on services to get to gabba from se busway etc and plenty of walkup traffic.

7 News  --> Outrage over child being 'left behind' at bus terminal three days in a row

QuoteMore outrage at the city's transport operators as 7 News reveals another case of a teenager being left behind by a bus driver. It comes amid allegations a young girl was abandoned three times on the same route as she was on her way to school.
