Anyone know if E2085 or something is one of those new hybrids? It has a very weird back I must say.

It's one of the new Volgren Optimus buses.

In other exciting news, I just caught a glimpse of Paris' rocket limousine.  An artic no less!

James

On board another completely empty 411 bus. I am the sole passenger on board, and the only other passenger on board got off at Toowong.

Thank you ozbob, Golli, HTG and Lapdog for so generously going without any form of PT service on this lovely night, as to allow me a chauffeur-driven blue and yellow limo to drive me from my doorstep to the CBD. Don't cut my bus!  :co3

OK this is the big dummy spit ...

I got a train from Richlands ..  [ this is a down Springfield ]

Got to Darra, detrained platform 2 headed to platform 1 for the IPPY ...

WRONG WRONG ..

After I had limped to one Darra, I discovered that the next IPPY was going into road 3  // WTF
So I limped back to 3 ...

OK Smarties, you will say check the PIDS . WTF ... most of them, at least the critical ones were blank ( yes I took photographs)_  so you see?  there was a problem. ..

Suggestions:

Guard announce on arrival at Darra (which is now a junction station - big time) if you want to go to Ippy platform X  accurately .. or PIDs that are actually informative?

How finky hard is it?  Or am I just a dreamer ...

What is this nonsense you speak of James? I regularly avail myself of the sophisticated convenience of Brisbane Transport's personalised home rocket services direct to my door :)

But you see Lapdog, your beloved 161 cuts out and turns into a feeder after 6pm, while my amazing 411 runs all the way to the CBD all day until almost 11pm at night. :co3

Sarcastic post pointing out that BT's direct services mantra is the reason you had to walk home from Goodna station this evening instead of having a service with decent span. It is a tradition of mine that whenever I ride air parcel services in general use (i.e. I actually have a need to use the service, not just on bus safari) I come to this thread, make sarcastic posts and thank the members of RBoT who have to put up with crap bus services due to the bus cost explosion.

It's BT bus racing, SEB edition!

Onboard 111, infront - another 111.  This one has half full load.

minbrisbane

three 130's all arrived within 1 minute.  No, the bus network isn't broken.

James

I wouldn't say three 130s all arriving at once on one day a symbol of a 'broken bus network', especially given that a lot of people have gone on holidays, and with buses coming every 5 minutes, it is very easy for services to start 'bunching'.

I think the big issue, however, is that services on certain routes are not being appropriately rationalised - for example, does Scrub Road in Carindale really deserve 18bph? Frustratingly enough, the bus review probably would have also addressed this issue too - and corridor rationalisation along corridors like the Mains Rd corridor is a great thing, yet will not take away massive amounts of service.

About 6.30-7pm last night I overtook a 340 going across the Captain Cook bridge with 1 passenger onboard. Passed multiple 330/333/340 services bunched together or in close timing along Gympie Road with patronage questioning why are these buses even running this frequently. No wonder why fares are going up.

Otto

Drivers and Passengers are getting peeved off !!

Now entering week 4 of the speed restriction traveling through the Vulture St Tunnel.
Speed is limited to 20kph through the entire length of the tunnel in both directions.

The Problem ?
A broken pit cover in the outbound lane which is covered by a steel plate.

Who will fix it ?
No one it seems. Word is that BCC will not fix it as the infrastructure belongs to TL.
TL won't fix it as they say it's BCCs responsibility.

Regardless of responsibility, It's the passengers who are inconvenienced by this ridiculous situation.

JUST FIX IT !!!!  :pr

I've heard that it was a Logan City bus that broke down at the corner of Melbourne and Grey Sts with gridlock at QSBS and KGSBS, and on the southern side of the busway, which I'm assuming is what you are eluding to.

Otto

I was enjoying the scenery inside KGSBS and QSBS for half an hour as I did my maroon glider service via William st and CCB . Then I enjoyed the beautiful river views for 20 minutes on the return trip to Ashgrove.
Arrived 45 minutes late.
Gotta love the overtime !

On board the first outbound 411... Sole passenger on board from route starting point to my stop... I'd make a sarcastic comment, but really the bus being totally empty or close to empty seems to be a common occurrence when on the bus at somewhat funny times.

Bus driver had been at the stop since 6am... was having a bit of a nap until I got on. Think I gave him a little surprise... lol.

I think that can be forgiven.  Most of the network in peak hour today was very quiet, for obvious reasons.  Christmas and New Year break.

Nice....were there many shoppers on between c.hill and bulimba? Or all headed to city?

STB

Went for a tour of the network today from my place to Ormeau to Brisbane, down to Browns Plains, and back to the City and finally back to where I started.

Trip details below.  I've noted the route, on time/early/late and the number of mins after each line from my Go Card history

07:47 AM    Capalaba Bus Station stop D    08:06 AM    Victoria Point Stop D    $ 0.29 - Route 270 - 1min early; 3mins early
08:28 AM    Victoria Point Stop C    08:40 AM    Redland Bay Marina    $ 0.35 - Route 280 - 2mins late; on time
09:04 AM    Redland Bay Marina    09:30 AM    Loganholme Stop E    $ 0.23 - Route 283 - 4mins late; 3mins late
09:39 AM    Loganholme stop B    09:56 AM    Beenleigh Station A    $ 1.54 - Route 553 - 1min early; 2mins early
09:57 AM    Beenleigh    10:18 AM    Ormeau    $ 0.52 - Train

01:35 PM    Elizabeth St Stop 89    02:27 PM    Browns Plains stop C    $0.00 - Route 540 - 6mins late; on time
02:56 PM    'Browns Plains Plaza A' Browns Plains    03:45 PM    Queen St Bus Station Southside Arrival Stop    $0.00 - Route 140 - on time; 9mins early
04:06 PM    Stop 107    04:48 PM    Capalaba Bus Station stop D    $0.00 - Route 273 - on time; 12mins early
05:05 PM    Capalaba Bus Station stop A    05:31 PM    EGW Wood Sportsfield    $ 1.64 - on time; on time

Observations:
Route 283 had a half load, although this load will just switch to route 282 after 20th Jan, picked up on elderly lady at the Caravan Park in Carbrook.

Route 540 had about 7 people on board out of the city.

Very few people on board route 273, but that's out of the norm, normally has a near full load (it's the holidays obviously).  Also,  Birkdale station was near empty park and ride wise, normally is quite full with cars spilling out on the street!

From Cannon Hill all where shoppers except me, from Junction Rd  onwards mainly where City Bound with a couple of short journeys . No pick ups along Wynnum rd only 4pax where picked along Lytton rd ( Students on holidays I Guess)  By the time we reached Edward street there where 16 Pax on board.

Caught the 227 home, only 8 pax onboard, first stop was along Wynnum rd  where the 227 picked and dropped off.

Nathan campus now has its original bus stops back after well over a year..maybe even 2...the new building and bus stops look pretty schmiko...

My bus trip right now sums up the entire network. On board a MaroonGlider (from Ashgrove)  as the sole passenger on board (who is not paying a fare thanks to 9 then free), with a 385 right in front of this bus.

Waste? What waste? :co3
