COMMUTERS on Brisbane's Ferny Grove line may be forced to take buses home after the power supply to overhead lines was cut late this morning.

A TransLink spokeswoman said they were unsure what had caused the power supply problems between Windsor and Bowen Hills stations about 11.30am, but buses would transport commuters between the Fortitude Valley station and Ferny Grove Station until the problem could be fixed.

"QR crews are responding quickly and are working to get services back to normal as soon as possible," the spokeswoman said.

Three trains using the Ferny Grove line at the time were stopped along the lines, with commuters transferred on to buses.

Thankfully I managed to get a lift home from work today, so didn't have to experience the replacement bus service.

Interesting commute this morning. I decided to get to Enoggera station around 15mins early at 07:05 in case I had to find alternative transport. An extra 6-car train had been added this morning which passed through Enoggera at 07:11. I don't know if this service was intentionally added to alleviate congestion after the line closure, or it was just one of the trains which had been stuck on the Ferny Grove Line since Monday morning returning to the depot in service? The train was fairly busy (about 15 standing per car), which supports my claim for an all stations service to be added in the 21-23min gap at this time of the morning. Maybe QR should make this "extra" service a permanent inclusion to the Ferny Grove Line timetable.
