The fallout from that resulted in a 90 minute gap of Doomben to CBD trains this morning!  :fp:

Another Nambour-gympie north cancellation.
This also happened yesterday before the entire service was cancelled due to the ICE problems.

Does Mr Hinchcliffe still want to stick by his word of no more cancellations due to driver shortages?

The ICEs should be taken out of service - they clearly aren't up to scratch any more.

Find a way to scavenge a couple of IMUs from another roster and just stick to those.  Gold Coast line can be run with SMU260s without any fuss.

What a sad indictment on failed transport policy.  Our clapped out rail system cannot even manage to properly maintain two services each way daily to Gympie North.  Give up, put on regular shuttles with connections at Nambour.  Better overall frequency and reliability.

So sad that it has come to this in Queensland. Absolute failure state.

Ipswich-Rosewood weekend rail replacement services

Rail replacement buses are running between Ipswich and Rosewood stations, to replace cancelled trains in the new Queensland Rail timetable.

These buses replace two services on Friday afternoon, and all weekend services.

While most services will stop at all stations, there are eight services on Saturday and six services on Sunday that will run express between Ipswich and Rosewood. These have been provided below.

Our online journey planner and the PDF timetable is being updated to include these new replacement services. We'll update this page when these are available.

ICE's are only part of the problem.  Gympie services requires 2x the number of drivers. Not ideal with our current driver predicament.

Nambour to Gympie does, not the rest of the route inbound.  Maybe time to make it a shuttle full time and scrub the through services altogether, they don't fit properly into the metropolitan timetable as it is.

^ Yes, obvious thing to do ..  could actually improve the frequency between Nambour and Gympie North inline with previous suggestions as well.  Win all round in the end.

Only single driver required if an ICE is rostered on the GYN runs. Two driver operation is only required on non-ICE runs that travel further north than Nambour.

Is that because of the (temperamental) ATP?

petey3801

Yep. All trains north of Nambour must have either ATP or two drivers.

Did the 100s ever end up being kitted out for the route?
Ride the G:

petey3801

Nope, ICE are the only ATP equipped Citytrain units at this stage. I believe they had some wiring installed, but thats about it. At this stage, with ETCS on the radar, the question would be whether it would be worth putting the current ATP on any more stock or to just wring every last drop out of the ICE units and hope there isn't too much transition time between the ICE retiring and ETCS being installed up north!

Extraordinary circumstances indeed.

The fact that there has been no swift denial or debunking of the obscenely BIG bonuses editorial (instead has been a wall of silence on it), suggests that they are true.

We can all look forward to the next Parliamentary sittings on 29 and 30 November.

Bring popcorn.

Message from a punter on the last outbound Cleveland express:

" The guard just announced the last outbound express to Cleveland (leaving the CBD before 5pm) will make a detour through Dutton Park.

So much for getting home just in time to photograph the super moon ;) "

Er, how does one get to Cleveland via Dutton Pk? How is that geometrically possible?

It is possible. My wife was on a train a few years ago which had to do exactly that due to a points failure. Driver just has to change ends at Dutton Park.

ROFL !

Yes Otto, I have been on a Cleveland service via Dutton Park as well.  It is due to an issue with the normal route to Cleveland, points or signal failure etc.  Train just reverses back out from Dutton Park.

Did an interesting journey in from Oxley one morning.  Boarded the train in the first car arrived at Roma St in the last car. Due to a points issue at Corinda the train travelled onto the Tennyson Branch, then reversed back into Sherwood and onwards to the city.

Just picked up the Mrs from Goodna.  EMU01 was on the train, salute!!

Definitely is possible as others have already mentioned.  Dutton Park has been used in the past for Cleveland trains to terminate and to bypass signal faults on the section between Park Road and Buranda underneath the flyover.  Dutton Park is also a designated turnback station, so can easily turnback trains there coming in from Park Road and then head back out onto the Cleveland branch via the two tracks coming from Buranda to Dutton Park (and vice versa).

It's happened to me as well in the past where they needed to go via Dutton Park to get back onto the Cleveland Branch.
