I don't understand how a track fault can delay ALL lines. Aren't lines sectorised, so surely delays should only affect either Sector 1 or Sector 2?

petey3801

Yep, and once you're on the subs at Bowen Hills heading north, trains can't get back on the mains till Northgate.
All opinions stated are my own and do not reflect those held by my employer.

I'm not sure if they still roster runs like this now.  But some Sector 1 runs used to form Sector 2 runs and vice-versa.  Well mostly IMU switching between the GC and Nambour lines.  e.g, GC-Airport-Roma Street-Nambour-Roma Street-Nambour-Roma Street, and Nambour-Roma Street-Doomben-Roma Street-Airport-Gold Coast-Airport, etc to name two past examples.

UPDATE: Passengers stranded on trains after a suspicious device was located near the #Beenleigh train station #7News

Listening to radio chatter from trains on the line, most trains from city currently terminating at Kuraby to meet buses and then start running back as usual. Trains from Gold Coast going to Ormeau and back down the line to Varsity. Interesting to hear how they handle situations like this. There is also three trains at Bethania, Eden's Landing and Holmview that have been stuck for a while, due to the overhead being switched off.

A few images coming in of the large amount of passengers having to de-train and wait for buses. (Images from ABC and Seven News)

Trains starting to move to and from Beenleigh again as of 7.50pm. Still many delays and train back-log to clear. Apparently the train that was stuck at Eden's Landing has failed so further delay while they try and clear that off the tracks.

Currently on the M1 nearing Ormeau.  Hasn't been fun, although the trip time Kuraby to Ormeau once on board a bus has been faster than the train...

So, in this situation, QR accepting 'duty of care' to get passengers to their home stations?  Contrast with recent SC disruption?

If you think these two situations are in any way alike, you are even more deluded than LM Quirk.
