Thanks am very very frustrated, I only use the train on average a couple of times a week and in the past 6 - 8 months have been off loaded at Redbank twice, Oxley once, Dinmore once and yesterday I got off at Goodna as the 4.55 Rosewood train from Central was delayed there waiting for a platform whilst waiting to go to Redbank and drop all it's opassengers there.  Of course the announcement at about Sherwood that there was a very limited number of buses at Redbank had everyone rolling their eyes in disbelief.  I was fortunate enough to have a wife come and get me from Goodna but not all are that lucky and then off course QR have the audacity to make you pay for the priveldge of dropping you half way along your trip.  The only saving grace is that QR looks after trains and not health!!!

Yes live in Ipswich and find it hard to understand that QR's only Plan B in these circumstances is "Get off our train and Good Luck trying to get one of our buses".  God help those people in wheelchairs or with prams or with no other option but to wait for QR to get them to their destination!

#Metro

How are the local buses in Ipswich?
Do you use them?

Ipswich line often seems to be the most prone to delays and incidents...

There was an article in todays mX about an inncident today on the London Tube. They lost power on the Jubilee line (in the morning peak I believe) and over 2000 passengers were forced to walk through the tunnel from the trains.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.

You have to love this little piece ... "commuters on the Swiss Cottage train were made to pay for their journeys by touching out on their Oyster cards as they left the station."   :P

Isn't the 3rd rail electrified-- I guess the power was off then.

Live part should be protected.  I think the wire is under the rail.

Live part should be protected.  I think the wire is under the rail.

There is no wire as such and the power pickup system would be either an under running or top of rail power pickup, if an under running pickup it would most likely have a top cover while if the power pickup is top of rail it would be unshielded.

As I understand it the practice if it becomes necessary to evacuate passengers along the line, to ensure the passenger safety, the power is required to be off and the power rail (third rail) isolated and grounded.

Simple practical and common-sense, would you allow people to wander around in the half dark with a potentially live with 600/900 volt DC power source for them to blunder into hence the obvious, simple, effective and practical rules governing the evacuation of passengers from the underground

Probably such things would still be done even if the live part was protected.

Since the trains resumed when the morning peak concluded, the trains that were scheduled for peak services went to Mayne as OUT OF SERVICE from both Beenleigh and Robina yards for this afternoon's peak..

ozbob

The basic issue this morning as stated on radio ABC by boss of QR was that something went wrong with work happening overnight for the new stabling.  Some sort of malfunction brought down some overhead. Investigation proceeding.

Brisbane-Gold Coast trains back on track

QuoteBrisbane-Gold Coast trains back on track

By Charmaine Kane

Translink says an overhead power line near Beenleigh station was damaged early this morning.

Trains on the Brisbane-Gold Coast line have resumed after an overhead power fault forced the suspension of services earlier today.

Passengers experienced delays of up to an hour with buses called in to carry commuters between Bethania and Ormeau stations.

Queensland Rail chief executive officer Paul Scurrah says there will be a full investigation.

"We were doing some work last night up at the Beenleigh stabling yards [and] just as they were closing the works there was an issue with one of the pieces of equipment that holds the overhead up," he said.

"It failed and brought the whole overhead line down with it.

"Unfortunately it's a really ordinary morning for our customers down there - we apologise to everyone who was disrupted."

This is the site of regular leaks (during heavy rain, etc).  I'd say it's just where the water made its way to from wherever it came from.
