Hi Daniel, train crew displacement means that crew were not in the required location to operate that service. This could be due to an earlier incident on the network or service changes. We hope this clarifies.

I don't know how many pax would be on that service, but wouldn't it be better to lock the defective unit and have it run empty rather than cancel it completely?

There was around 30-40 off at petrie, and each station after ( except Virginia) had about 8- 14 people waiting that hadn't given up and found alternative means (seen when expressing pass on the nambour - roma) .
Later i saw 171 at bowen hills about to head to BNE. Didnt see lead train
