Might be possible.  The Courier Mail is reporting Samford Rd at Keperra (near the tavern) is closed due to flooding.

The interesting thing is I live in Keperra and assume by tavern they mean the pub at the Great Western shops. Which would mean the "dam" at the construction site/quarry behind that is leaking again. Like it always does when theres rain. I'm sure the people living across the road whos house got flooded because of that last time are happy.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Cleveland train line delays

Passengers travelling on the Cleveland train line between Murarrie and Manly stations can expect delays up to an hour in both directions due to a signal fault.

Trains are running slowly through this section, with buses also conveying passengers.

No other lines have been affected by this delay.

Written authority being used by the looks of things.  Hallelujah!

I remember as a young lad travelling on the railway to Beech Forest, a 2' 6" VR narrow gauge line.  Always impressed me the elaborate safe working and staff exchanges for the sole train on this rather magnificent railway, even if the only train for the week.  Some things take time ...   ;)

Written authorities have been used on the Cleveland line of late when signalling fails, why not the Ippy?  Too difficult??

One would have hoped that some redundancy would be in the system by now.  If they can't sort it, might be best to bring back signal boxes and telegraph wires ...  (tic)

More than likely (and I checked with someone who knows this stuff)...the signals are linked into the crossovers so doing ATTs for the Ipswich line isn't as simple than the Cleveland line that doesn't require crossovers to be used during peak hour (except between Manly and Cleveland).

An Authority to Travel is normally issued for out of gauge or over weight movements.  For example, an unregistered SMU 260 from Maryborough West to Mayne ETD or a 3700 Class Electric Locomotive from Acacia Ridge to Yukan.  They often outline movement restrictions to avoid causing damage to network infrastructure.

A Safe Working Form may be a temporary solution in some cases, but not this one ...

I think it is reasonable for commuters to ask " what is going on? "  The Ipswich railway line seems to be the worst performer overall, perhaps it is time that attention was directed to fixing the issues??

Constant disruptions are again becoming a problem ...

Received a clarification as to the cause of the issue on the Ippy last evening ..

" major telemetry failure caused by a tree that was a result of the recent windy weather .."

Thanks for the clarification.

Can anyone explain to me why a signal fault has to stop all traffic on that line?  Surely there must be a Plan B, if all the traffic lights in Brisbane went red and stayed red do you think the traffic would just say "Oh well that's bad we'll have to get out here and find another way home" Come on!  Was one of the many thousands of people dumped yesterday by the trains stopping at Redbank and as if that wasn't bad enough then the guard on th etrain was saying their are very limited buses so you might want to organise other ways home which of course at Redbank then leads to absolute chaos on the roads.

ozbob

Welcome hadenoughipswich!  And welcome to the club.  I think all Ipswich line punters are getting little weary.

OK, last night  I only have the broad details, but a tree fell on some critical signal equipment.  There is a procedure whereby trains can still run under a written authority (safe working form), but I suspect that the tree may  have been blocking the tracks last evening which prevented that.

The tree had been damaged no doubt due to recent weather.  I suppose one could argue that all trees should be removed, but I don't think that is going to happen either.  Trees that do pose obvious risks to the rail corridor are normally pruned/removed as needed.

Thanks for sharing your comments.
