15 min delays: Bowen Hills station

All train services excluding Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast lines may experience delays up to 15 minutes due to scheduled maintenance at Bowen Hills station.
Or in other words they are running all services on one track pair again, to the detriment of passengers actually trying to get anywhere!

Sent to all outlets:

16th February 2016

Please explain?

Good Afternoon,

This is a request for TransLink and Queensland Rail to detail the actual cause of delays.  ' Operational issue ,   ' mechanical issue ' is very vague and just causes angst.

It is understood that a person struck by a train needs some care, but surely most of the other situations can be clearly spelled out?

Some suggestions:

Locomotive failure.

Train failure.

Derailment.

Sick passenger.

Sick crew.

Person struck by train.

Bridge strike.

Level crossing strike.

Signal fault.

Track fault.

Points failure.

Telemetry fault.

Rostering problem.

Trespasser in corridor.

Police incident.

Power failure.

Vegetation on line.

Vehicle on line.

Broken rail.

And so forth ...

Thanks.

Best wishes
Robert

It seems to me that a lot of cancellations are not being reported in the normal manner of late.

Post on QR FB about a Cleveland being pulled around 3.25pm.  Nothing elsewhere.

Might be time for the Transport Minister to be informed ...

It is getting worse rather than better, the communications of delays etc.

Note that the Redcliffe Line never has 100% on time stats in the pm peak. The poor track layout seems to be coming home to roost!

'altered'???  geez   :fp:

It is time to suggest to Mr Strachan that he pick one or two bright up-and-comers in QR (the ones on which he will build the new corporate structure) and, as part of the staff development program, send them to Sydney and Melbourne for 3 months (assisted accommodation and living expenses) -- on secondment -- to see how others run a proper railway.  Union shouldn't object -- as the staff are 'one of theirs'.  We just need to get some new thinking into that place.

Perth I would agreed with. Sydney and/or Melbourne, no thanks. We have enough domestic problems in QR without bringing poor practices from other states in as well.

seems to a huge increase in delayed trains eventually turning into cancelled trains....usually the ones delayed 15+mins end up turning into cancellations. Customer at roma st just said that the cancelled 12.07 FG train was still showing up on the boards just 2 minutes before departure time then came the cancellation announcement  :fp:

They need to be on the ball with roma st cancellations as there are alternative bus services passing through eg: 390(Gaythorne,mitchelton),345(Alderley)......they need to step up the comms..

=========================

Major track closure this weekend  the above notice is dribble .. and misleading.

Roma Street to Corinda, Cleveland and Yeerongpilly track closure and Doomben changes > https://translink.com.au/service-updates/113101

QuoteFrom the first service on Saturday 18 February until the last service on Sunday 19 February, tracks will be closed between Roma Street to Corinda, Cleveland and Yeerongpilly stations.

Please plan your journey in advance and allow for extra travel time (approximately 60 minutes) due to track works.

Train services will be affected from the first services on Saturday 18 February (including early morning NightLink trains) and will return to normal from the first service on Monday 20 February.

Doomben line trains will operate in both directions between Doomben and Albion stations only.

Inbound Doomben line trains will terminate at Albion station. Customers should change to a Caboolture, Redcliffe Peninsula, Shorncliffe or Airport line train at Eagle Junction or Albion stations to continue their journey to Bowen Hills, Fortitude Valley, Central and Roma Street stations.

Outbound Doomben line trains will start at Albion station. Customers travelling to Doomben from Roma Street, Central, Fortitude Valley or Bowen Hills should catch a Caboolture, Redcliffe Peninsula, Shorncliffe or Airport line train to Albion or Eagle Junction stations and transfer to a Doomben train to continue their journey.
