Caboolture, Shorncliffe and Sunshine Coast lines - effective 9 April 2010

QR has advised TransLink that train services through Northgate station are currently suspended due to a signal fault.

Technicians are currently on site to repair the problem.

There was a short interruption due to a signal failure on the Gold Coast line this morning as well ..

Due to the way train paths are set up on the network, particularly at weekends a CBD line fault is generally not good news ... (understatement)

QR has advised TransLink that due to a police incident passengers can expect delays of up to 30 minutes on the Shorncliffe, Caboolture, Sunshine Coast and Ferny Grove lines. Buses are being arranged to convey passengers between Bowen Hills and Eagle Junction stations.

Services on the Beenleigh and Gold Coast line are delayed up to 30 minutes due to a truck accident at the rail bridge at Sherwood Road, Rocklea

Services are suspended at Rocklea both inbound and outbound while this area is being investigated, but are expected to resume shortly.

An accident involving a truck carrying avocados is causing traffic and rail chaos for commuters between Brisbane and the Gold Coast and Beenleigh this morning.

The semi-trailer slammed into a rail bridge at Rocklea, becoming stuck, about 6am, police said.

All trains between Brisbane and the Gold Coast and Beenleigh were stopped until the area could be declared safe.

Trains resumed about 6.25am but two inbound and four outbound trains are running about half-hour late, Translink said.

Long delays have been cleared for cars around Sherwood Road and Muriel Avenue at Rocklea, police say.

However, the truck remains stuck and other trucks and large vehicles are unalble to pass.

At Toowong, the Ipswich service scheduled 2.44 is late and running express to Corinda.  The Redbank service is behind that.  The next Ipswich service from Toowong is now 3.14pm.  First announcement.  Second announcement, Ipswich service cancelled, next Ipswich service 3.14pm.  Redbank service 2.57pm.  Life as a punter on the Ippy ...  lol

Rail madness this afternoon in the peak.
A lot of trains were up to 10 minutes late due to a points failure at Mayne. I think it highlights the importance of redundancy in the system.
Trains on platforms got changed around or had stations dropped and were turned into expresses.

All trains stations in the Brisbane CBD have no services running due to an overhead power fault.

On the Ipswich line there are no services between Corinda and the City.

Patrons from the Broncos v Titans NRL game at Suncorp Stadium are advised to use alternative bus services where possible.

There are no services running on the Ferny Grove line.

There are no services running between South Brisbane and the City, and between Eagle Junction and the City.

The fault is not expected to be rectified until at least 10pm.

A FALLEN powerline threw train services in Brisbane into chaos last night.

The powerline came down about 8.30pm, crippling the inner city Queensland Rail network.

Power was restored by electricians after 90 minutes, but thousands of passengers were inconvenienced; including some of the massive crowd at Suncorp Stadium where the local teams Brisbane Broncos and Gold Coast Titans had played.

QR sent additional customer service staff and transit officers to inner city stations to assist passengers in finding alternate transport arrangements.

They brought buses into service to ferry stranded passengers.

Services slowly returned to normal after power was restored.
