Train service changes

Last updated:  Tue 11 October 2016 at 9.02pm (7 hours ago)

An intensive training schedule is currently underway to train Queensland Rail drivers on new infrastructure through Petrie.

This training unfortunately has an effect on services whilst accredited drivers pilot others through new infrastructure to gain their competency.

There are be a number of service alterations in place today to facilitate this training. These alterations have been planned to minimise disruption for customers as best as possible, with most occurring outside of peak periods.

We apologise for any delay to your service and thank you for your patience.

Service alterations

The 8.46pm Kippa-Ring to Bowen Hills service is cancelled
The 9.24pm Bowen Hills to Northgate service is cancelled
The 9.28pm Central to Northgate train is cancelled. The next Central to Shorncliffe train departs Central station at 9.43pm
The 10.12pm Northgate to Central service is cancelled. The next Shorncliffe to Central train departs Northgate station at 10.27pm
The 10.56pm Central to Northgate train is cancelled. The next Central to Shorncliffe train departs Central station at 11.13pm
The 11.42pm Northgate to Central train is cancelled.

Is it misleading to say "operational issue", clearly it has nothing to do with day to day operations or an 'act of God'. These are programmed in and planned temporary service cuts.

Should really say "due to lack of forward planning".

Guess TransLink were just waiting for info from monitoring our Twitter feed to get wind of cancellations.

RBOT already sorted out their bus network, maybe they want us to take over marketing, communications and timetabling too?

But didn't Stirling say "there will be no more cancellations"?

Yes, but he only said it in relation to cancellations due to a lack of crews. He went on to say there will always be delays/cancellations due to other problems, as with all railway operations around the world.

I kid you not i turned up @ Salisbury at 8.23am to catch the 8.31 Beenleigh. Previous ones didn't arrive so there was heaps waiting @ Salisbury. Then at 8.27 they announce that the next arriving 8.29 train will run xpress Salisbury to Beenleigh...about 100-150 people jumped off @ salibsury to wait for next all stoppers. So I'm the only pax in the last 3 carriages....the guard says it looks like I'm the only one on this train :P

BrizCommuter

Lots of people late to work today due to the issue at Yeerongpilly. One outbound service even expressed through South Brisbane.

bcasey

There was a pretty large crowd of people waiting on platform 5 on Roma Street, around 8am. Just before I left on my train, there was an announcement that the next Gold Coast train was going express until Altandi. I'm guessing this issue may have been part of the cause of this crowding at the platform.

techblitz

on top of the 150+ at Salisbury there was easily 100+ waiting at woodridge when we passed..... a very busy station...

departed Salisbury 8.29 arr varsity lakes 9.26
normally takes 77 mins salisbury - varsity
saving of 20 minutes
And to top it off my 760 to tweed was ready & waiting ;)

So QR trying to claw back on-time running stats instead of trying to run a useful train service - i.e. Passengers travelling from Roma St to South Brisbane/Bank.

No, it would have been one of the trains that detoured via Sherwood/Tennyson to get around the problem at Yeerongpilly I think.
