Power issues were backed up by a track fault at Roma St. Just spent 45 minutes waiting for a Shorncliffe train at South Bank. When it finally arrived we spent another 15 minutes at South Bank station before the train finally got under way!

This is why BaT needs to go through to the northern lines. It wouldn't have been hard for Derwan to walk to Gabba station and jump on the BaT, but when he gets off at Roma St he isn't going to go anywhere because of the points failure. :steam: :conf

Slightly stalkerish, but Derwan actually works at Wooloongabba (and has made multiple posts about connections to the CBD from Wooloongabba). CRR would significantly alter the way he takes his journey, probably. BaT in particular wouldn't have helped too much in Derwan's case, but through-running would mean Caboolture/Nambour - Beenleigh/Gold Coast trains could continue running unhindered. As it is the BaT conflicts only mean the latter can run unhindered, and even then the half-baking of the Exhibition section may mean that can't happen at all...

I would have looked at using a 310/P315 or 325/335 to get to my final destination after too much delay, but perhaps that is me being impatient. Whenever I start hitting delays in any PT scenario, I start recalculating and running through the myriad of timetables/routes in my mind to find alternatives.
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

HappyTrainGuy

Good luck with the 310/315 or 335 as it might have been only slightly faster. Traffic was chokers along Sandgate Road enough that I didn't see a 310/315 behind or in the distance from Toombul to Boondall (including the backtracking along Sandgate road) and heading along Beams road I passed an outbound 335 going past Carseldine railway station while 15 seconds up the road I watched another outbound 335 going through the roundabout. So much for that 30 minute 335 frequency. Also spotted a 340 and 344 tailgating each other into the train station too so there must have been some delays on the bus network too.

techblitz

77 helped me out accordingly yesterday (once again) for getting to windsor rail from buranda..and avoiding the proverbial mess around the CBD.

Doesn't mean we can't change the network in case of emergencies or disruptions. Have BaT trains stop at Yeerongpilly, shuttle to Corinda, with shuttles between Milton and Ipswich/Springfield (Yes there's a bit of a space issue at Yeerongpilly with only 2 platforms but it's doable). Same thing at Eagle Junction for Airport/Doomben and at Northgate for Shorncliffe. Cleveland's the only issue due to a lack of Park Road, but could possibly make use of the Dutton Park/Buranda fork. The network could still function close to it's entirety even though it's disrupted.

Oh dear ...

Greetings,

Since the media event at Mayne Control Centre, reliability has been not the best.  Two major system disruptions with constant peak and out of peak disruptions.

Is maintenance sliding? The now Minister for Transport was quick to attack the previous Government for such failings.  Why the silence now?

Reliability around the clock is becoming a major factor in peoples ability to use public transport in SEQ.

Fare fail, bus review fail, reliability fail?  Missed connections, constant disruption. Not a good look is it?

Best wishes,
Robert

Complete OTP picture preferred ....

Greetings,

A few comments: There has been an OTP  improvement from our experiences but the only data that is made regularly available publicly is the last 5 days of peak only.  Full 24 hour profiles, peak and inter-peaks for all lines is not made available as in other jurisdictions.

The data in the table below, is that for peak, inter-peak or full 24 hour?  Not clear is it?  More selective spin?

Aggregate data covers up many problems & delays, missed connections. Publish all lines 24 hour please.  This is being truly open and transparent.

It should also be mentioned that timetables now are a lot slower than a few years ago.  This is known as timetable ' fat ' it helps to run to time.

For example in 1969, Ipswich to Central was 62 - 64 minutes.  Electric trains 1986 dropped to 50 minutes.  Today 2014. 58 minutes. Other lines are similar.

A complete picture is always better than superficial spin don't you think?

How about doing the right thing Mr Emerson and direct that full 24 hours OTP profiles all lines are published and kept accessible?

When will bus OTP be made available?

Best wishes
Robert

JOINT STATEMENT
Premier
The Honourable Campbell Newman
Minister for Transport and Main Roads
The Honourable Scott Emerson

More trains running on-time than ever before

More Queensland train passengers are getting to their destination when they should, with new figures showing train on-time running has reached its highest ever level.

Premier Campbell Newman said Queensland had gone from among the worst train on-time running under Labor, to the best results in the country, showing the State Government was delivering on its election promise to revitalise frontline services.

"The quarterly result of 95.8 per cent on-time running is a great figure, but we are more interested in what that means for Queenslanders," Mr Newman said.

"Up to 18,000 more passengers a day across south east Queensland are now arriving at their destination on time, something that would not have occurred under Labor.

"What a great outcome and a fantastic turnaround."

Transport Minister Scott Emerson said the four quarter average of 96 per cent was a credit to the hard work of the Queensland Rail staff.

"On-time running has grown from a three-year low of 86 per cent in the final months under former Transport Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk, to record highs," Mr Emerson said.

"Some lines have seen an increase of almost 20 per cent under this Government."

Mr Emerson said over four quarters, on-time running has been 96.4 per cent (April-June 2013), 96.9 (July-September 2013), 96.1 per cent (October-December 2013) and 95.8 per cent (January-March 2014).

"Not only are we getting the trains to run on-time but they are now more trains running with an additional 1,000 weekly services in the last three months," he said.

"We have made changes and have a taskforce dedicated to on-time running – and now we are leading the way in Australia."

Daily on-time running figures are available at http://www.queenslandrail.com.au/RailServices/City/Pages/PeakOn-TimeResults.aspx

Three car sardine 6:00pm to Cleveland from Park Road, delayed 12 mins because of police incident at Coorparoo.

Then on our way into Hemmant, we get told that it's going to run express Hemmant to Thorneside.

Would've made much more sense to decide that earlier and do it Murarrie to Wynnum Central/Manly.
Sounds like our little friend the 5.47 ex central...once again....i think with the number of consistently bad observations.....it takes the cake as THE one to avoid...
Luckily the counter-peak frequency is decent enough so that it will have reduced wait time for those pax who missed their stations between hemmant and thorneside...
