Not really a delay but following on with the idiots everywhere during todays arvo peak someone pushed their way through the ped gates between an out of service train returning to the city and the outbound Petrie service as to board said Petrie service that was arriving at Sunshine. A toast to the idiots!

Power failure in the city area. No trains going anywhere!

Delays at Newmarket due to boomgate strike

Last updated: 8.16am Monday 17 March 2014

Beenleigh and Ferny Grove line trains are delayed up to 10 minutes in both directions due to a boomgate strike at Wilston Road, Newmarket.

Technicians and police are en route.

My bus, 344, just got diverted around that boomgate, and is currently stuck in traffic trying to find an alternative way to Newmarket Road. I saw the trains going through at the prescribed 5km/h. Unfortunately for buses that go that way, there is no easy way to divert past it.
Agree. The new slow speed thing is a delay saver though. I was on one of those services. We stopped at a red signal between Mitchelton and Gaythorne, were notified that there was a boom gate incident, and then shortly got underway again. Presume it was a bit slower but it was only really noticeable when we actually stopped and then when we went through the boom gate.  :-t
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I think people being stuck on trains without any way of getting off for an extended period of time is a total disgrace.

I was once stuck on a train for three hours without any food or water. Compensation from QR? Water bottles distributed at Nerang, then wait for it.... taken off the train at Robina. Was later found to be a body on the tracks, nevertheless, very unimpressed with how QR treated pax on the affected train.

There needs to be a procedure which allows for the evacuation of pax from trains which are stuck on the tracks. That experience very nearly turned me off rail travel permanently, and I lost a lot of faith in the rail network. I know some of the people I was on board with now avoid rail travel because of that incident.
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

2 ipswich trains came through toombul about 4 mins apart
However any ipswich bound passengers unlucky to be on the second train were told to get off at roma st and wait for the next ipswich train in 30 mins...

Media release 7th April 2014

Queensland: Come clean with the real public transport data

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport passengers has again called for the public disclosure of detailed public transport data.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"Detailed public disclosure of detailed public transport data is not done in Queensland as for other states (1)."

"Yesterday afternoon (Sunday) there was yet another 'signal fault' which stopped trains on the Caboolture line and had flow on effects to the Ipswich and Sunshine Coast lines. We a have report of a commuter being stuck on a train for one and a half hours (2)."

"There are constant problems with the public transport network around the clock. The Minister for Transport claims that train reliability has improved. Unless we are given the data for the full operating period how can that be confirmed? Where is the data for the bus and ferry networks? Bus no shows are common. The network is a shambles."

"Fares are in meltdown in SEQ (3). Hiding the detailed public transport data indicates the authorities are unable to effectively manage the network in terms of performance levels. Time for some new leaders?"

Begs the question,  where did the extra 3 cars come from and if no other service notification of a 6 to 3 car, maybe it could be permanent?

Not permanent. There were a few problems out Ipswich way this morning, including signal faults at Rosewood causing heavy delays, as well as a unit failure at Ipswich. A 6-car As Required train was sent out towards Ippy to form a service (which I assume is the one that was notified about). Morning peak still has one 6-car (and maybe a 3-car, if they're lucky) set that is used as required.
All opinions stated are my own and do not reflect those held by my employer.
