Yes.  They could run out of trains for the down journeys before long.

So run a shuttle between Darra <-> Goodna rail can could be done, but bus if all too hard..  Trains can turn back at Goodna there is a crossing from down to up.

Turn back at Darra.

Once fixed, there are still trains in position to resume normal timetables.  The way they are going they are going to run out of trains ...

This is the better option I think ....

Central <==> Darra <----- Wacol-----Gailes------->Goodna <==> Ipswich
                                       rail or bus shuttle

As noted above looks like they are already having problems in turning out down services ex Ipswich ... wot a surprise!

I don't get it?  If a train can get through then what is the shuttle needed for?

I don't get it?  If a train can get through then what is the shuttle needed for?

Because they are only running down trains ...  no up trains getting through.

Hence they have (will) run out of trains at Ipswich.  So if the fault continues they will have to run bus Darra <---> Ipswich both ways ...

So if you run trains between Ipswich and Goodna as one sector you keep the trains on that sector.  Similarly Darra < -- > CBD etc.

So you can bridge the gap with a rail shuttle/bus shuttle.

Once the line re-established away you go ...

Now been delayed 2.5 hours.
Im going to assume since this is a serious safety incident that it will be investigated a lot more beyond tonight.
A lot of the staff seem to be distressed atm and are keeping quiet.

Really?  There's points in both directions between Goodna and Redbank, and only in one direction between Redbank and Riverview.  There must be a dark (unsignalled) area, if that's true.
