Palmwood-Nambour shutdown due to debris echoes the 'bougainvillea tendrils' incident that shut down the network.  Maybe a trackside vegetation cutback can be scheduled as part of the future maintenance program, without having to sack a public servant to pay for it.

It was actually a large sheet of plastic type material that had wrapped itself around the overhead. Trains only stoppped for around 20mins or so.

Last updated: 1.54pm Friday 12 October 2012

Trains on the Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines have been suspened between Fruitgrove and Kuraby, due to a vehicle hitting the boom gate at the Warrigal Road level crossing, Fruitgrove.

Customers should expect delays up to 30 minutes in both directions.

Alternative transport is operating between Fruitgrove to Kuraby.

The scheduled Gold Coast bound train for Coopers Plains was 7 minutes late, arriving at 2:22pm. There was a 6 minute delay at Coomera due to the 3:04 - 3:10 Helensvale to Coomera train. In total, arrived Helensvale 16 minutes late (3:15pm). 715 connecting bus, originating from the station had driven off, likely empty since QR and Surfside make no attempt to coordinate such services (a fact submitted to the SEQ bus network review).

Delay at Fruitgrove was 2-3 mins at most. Can't understand how the service can run 7 mins late before even reaching the problem.

Caboolture/Sunshine Coast line delays

Last updated: 7.35am Tuesday 16 October 2012

It should be removed pretty quickly. The last few trains to Petrie for the later morning peak runs will be impacted due to crosses with out of timed traffic and the delay on the way there.

Edit: cleared now.

What is a "crossing issue"?  Doesn't sound like a cross in the single track - that wouldn't cause a 30 minute delay.

Level Crossing issue - that would affect the Beenleigh line too.  There aren't any south of the BNH AFAIK.

ozbob

We are left to wonder ...

In the past '' crossing issue " has been used to describe a vehicle ploughing into boom gates, a vehicle stopped on a level crossing, failed boom gates/signalling at a crossing, failed points/signals at an actual crossing loop etc.

Yes, probably not a 'level crossing' issue as such based on the very limited information so far, possibly a failure on the single section?

Bethania's had a few issues recently, and I would say that level crossing is here to stay.  Grade sep isn't close to being justified and closure isn't really an option either.

I wonder if anything can be done?

SurfRail

Put traffic lights on the approaching intersections on either I would say (ie Holtzmann Rd on the north, station car park on the south).

Also close the shopping centre car park entrance right next to the LX.
