Mentioned elsewhere by a local that the LX is sign posted not suitable for large trucks.

That information is missleading and incorrect. To clear things up there are no signs preventing large vehicles from using the level crossing. There are however signs on the approaches/exits of the level crossing preventing large vehicles from turning left and right onto Tufnell road (to prevent traffic from backing up/remaining on the level crossing). At the level crossing the only signs are a 5m height restriction sign, the usual don't wait on the level crossing, stop on red lights and live overhead wires.
Although that T intersection is lovingly marked giveway in every direction so no one knows what to do (always to your right) so it causes some close calls almost every morning, lunch, afternoon and any other time there are cars present. (I volunteer at a charity that is close by so i'm there most mornings.)

Haha it is a beauty of a layout :P IMO travelling west there should be no right hand turn to all traffic just after the level crossing similar to heading east bound trying to access the park and ride with its no right hand turn. The eastern side is a different kettle of fish due to the very limited space for duplicating lanes but there's nothing stoping them from doing something similar to what they did at Zillmere with the Murphy Road overpass/road mods. ie the eastern side of St Vincents road would be a no right turn traffic sending all traffic down the next street (Victor/Victoria Street? - The one that leads to the school then back on to Tufnell road) where a intersection could be done outside the library or you could do something similar by making both streets one way with St Vincents traffic giving way to westbound traffic on tufnell road. Any option would be a hard sell though.

Reports of power disruptions to trains at Caboolture, Palmwoods and Mooloolah tonight ... train being evacuated at Palmwoods... nothing on Twitter.

News just in 2 hour delays expected, lightning strike to blame Guard report states.

Gotta love the Sunshine Coast / Caboolture line - never a dull moment (made extra dull by no lights or power)

A journey on the SCL is like an Indiana Jones adventure every time.  Indiana Jones and the Curse of Queensland Rail -- good plot for a movie.

^ indeed.

Incidently NOTHING issued via Twitter from either QR or TL ...

COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY

eRail alert was finally issued 30 minutes after the event I am told. (maybe that is service provider or coverage limitations - can't be sure).

I just checked and I didn't receive an erail alert (normally do).

There is an attitude in TL that because it is Sunshine Coast we don't need to do anything by the looks of things, or there constant comm failures between QR and TL.  Completely unacceptable of course.  Will raise this in due course.
Twitter is probably the major way people can pick up there are issues quickly, particularly north of Caboolture.  There is no information on most stations, and people are left stranded with no idea what is going on.

Editorial comment from today's Sunshine Coast Daily:

Translink has some explaining to do after a 'bolt from the blue' left hundreds of commuters stranded from Caboolture through to Nambour last night.  It is of no solice that Sunshine Coast commuters are used to it.

And the loss of power to the line was an act of nature, if early reports are to be believed.  But angry commuters who contacted the Daily last night said they had been dumped at stations with no buses made available to complete their journeys.

Reliability is essential to encourage people to use public transport.  Without it, we may as well get used to living with savage traffic snarls across South-East Queensland.

History repeating,  why cannot these basic communication issues be sorted???

I missed all the drama, but wasn't there track work going that was to affect the later trains on the caboolture line last night, I didn't read it closely as it was supposed to be after I was safely home.  The person catching the train from the airport may have been caught up in that (if it still went ahead).

Maybe we should devise a 'survival pack' for anyone venturing onto the Sunshine Coast Line -- thermal blanket, freeze-dried meal, torch, bottled water, spare bottle to pee into, toilet paper, paperback novel, glucose jelly beans, tranquillisers, radio and spare batteries.

Further advice received thanks, attempts were made to tweet the delays but there was an IT issue, which has now been worked around.

Good, that the intention was there to inform, just that something went amiss.

As we all know, IT is far from perfect world ... lol

Thank you for pursuing this Robert.

I do wonder how that could be possible though?

Does both TransLink and Queensland Rail use the same IT drive or server to send out their Twitter messages?
and they simultaneously experienced technical issues?

Or perhaps TransLink issue both sets of tweets independent of QR... possibly unlikely given that I thought QR issue the original tweet (privately to TL) and then TL retweet it with their moniker on it, followed by the original QR tweet.

I must confess I find it hard to believe.

EDIT: Silver lining: Good to hear the communication happening ozbob.
