Delays on Beenleigh and Gold Coast line this evening peak due to level crossing incident at Salisbury. Not good timing with the Pearl Jam concert at QEII stadium!

I see QR/Translink haven't plugged the late night hour gap on the Ferny Grove Line after this event.

Yes, I reported that to Bus Control at 8:30am who quickly forwarded the message to Rail Control and Police. Seems it had just been run into shortly prior to my arrival. The offending vehicle had left the scene by that time.
Location was on Stanley Street East rail crossing at Coorparoo. The boom on the city side ( outbound Stanley St ) had been snapped in 2 places. One section was laying across the freight track and the other was hanging of the boom mechenism by the power leads for the flashing lights ...

Strange thing is I received the Erail update @ 10:05am stating service will resume @ 10am

I was stuck on an Airport-bound service from 10:30-11:10 stopped between Edens Landing and Bethania Stations.  At the time, the guard announced a points failure.  A few trains passed in the opposite direction during this time.  Being stuck in the middle of nowhere was worrying enough that some passengers gave a sigh of relief once we started moving.  We also stopped at Bethania for several minutes due to a red signal before resuming the standard express pattern.

UPDATE: BRISBANE commuters trying to get home at the end of the working week were stuck at Central when train services came to a standstill about 4.30pm.
A Translink spokesperson said a power fault caused the disruption to trains leaving the CBD and on the Ferny Grove line.

Passenger numbers are starting to clear, but there are up to 15-minute delays on some services.

It's amazing how frequently these disruptions occur on a Friday afternoon.

Lucky for me I tend to head home early on Friday!

The train I caught home tonight was running 47mins late upon arrival at Enoggera.

The service was originally an express, but due to the system going pair shaped, was sensibly made into an all stations. Unfortunately due to QRs inflexible PIDS, it was displayed as being an express at Bowen Hills. The platform announcer thus announced the train as being an express, with many passengers alighting from the train as a result. The guard then announced the train as an all stations, which probably couldn't be heard by most of the passengers that had just alighted. Then the doors closed. This resulted in many passengers unnecessarily alighting from a train that ended up serving their stations.

Wow - 2 hour delay on all trains on the CBD line due to power fault - service to resume by 8.30am - sounds like a pretty significant issue with this length of delay. I wonder if the Minister or her staff are signed up to erail updates and are monitoring the constant failures of signals, tracks, power, bridge strikes etc it was only a few short weeks ago we were being told that train delays were the result of a sequence of unfortunate incidents ... I suppose people travelling on a sunday morning don't need to be anywhere special at a certain time so a 2 hour delay won't cause much of a problem.... (insert tongue firmly in cheek)

Sent to all outlets:

6th December 2009

Greetings,

Another major fail last Friday afternoon peak which pushed the ontime train performance down to 54.75%  ( I suspect the morning peak was close to 100%, the degradation due to the Friday PM peak failure).

Now, Sunday morning as the punters head off to work, church and other social activities a major power failure in the CBD, at this stage predictions of bus between Roma St and Bowen Hills till 11am.

Government and TransLink dismiss any notion of commuter compensation, just flag huge fare cost increases.  Seems the only avenue left for commuters will be the ballot box.

These constant failures are impacting at a very significant level in terms of many folks additional expenses for child care, taxi fares, and the cost of missed appointments both financially and in terms of the constant stress and worry.

Rather than spin the line "another unfortunate incident"  how about letting the public know what is actually going on and importantly what is going to be done about it please?

Thanks for your consideration

Best wishes
Robert

LATEST: TRAIN services have been suspended in the CBD and on segments of at least two northern lines of QR's CityTrain network this morning due to a power fault.

QR has advised that bus services are running this morning between Albion and Roma Street stations and also between Mitchelton and Bowen Hills stations until the electrical fault is repaired.

CBD stations Fortitude Valley and Central are also affected and no timeframe for the repair has been given.
