I wonder whether this means those plans for pre-fabricated concrete 'more permanent than temporary' platforms for the Sunshine Coast, being drawn up in TMR, will be pulled from the bottom drawer and given an airing.  How about it, Mr Cridland?  St Ignatius College, Riverview, turned out some bright thinkers.  It is a bit difficult to pass electricity through concrete than through metal scaffold.

Or passengers could stand in a line, adjacent to the yellow line, and as the train arrives to scoot past, adopt the rather neat pose of sprinter Bolt and all yell " Queenslander!"

Following on from the discussion a few weeks ago ... here is an example of a twitter update from CityRail (Sydney).

Factual, clear.  No one is left wondering and this then allows for better overall management of the delays.

Credible report received that works make take another 2 weeks to resolve, possibly by 21 August.

eRail updates indicate that the timeframe seems imminent, by essentially issuing the same message every day.

That shortage of maintenance staff indicated by the audit, seems to be being felt here on the Sunshine Coast.

BrizCommuter was at Fortitude Valley around 4pm when things went pair shaped. Customer information from QR was as usual terrible, with the only delay mentioned being a Doomben Line train (which may of actually have been cancelled - bit of a difference), and no mention as to why 10 min+ delays were occurring to every other northbound service. Some Airtrain passengers were beginning to look a bit nervous!

Caboolture / Sunshine Coast line delays

Last updated: 9.06am Tuesday 14 August 2012

Inbound and outbound Caboolture/Sunshine Coast line trains are delayed up to 90 minutes, due to a loss of power between Morayfield and Burpengary.

Trains are running at slow speed through the area during this time.  Delays continue along the line to the city.

Buses are running between Petrie and Caboolture to assist with easing delays for customers.

Outbound services towards Caboolture and the Sunshine Coast are terminating at Petrie.  Customers being conveyed by bus from Petrie to Caboolture.  Customers travelling to the Sunshine Coast will be able to rejoin train services from Caboolture North.

Queensland Rail electricians are on site and working to remedy the issue.

Delays are expected to remain throughout the morning peak.

There were also at least 2 failed trains. One was at Wooloowin (so I was told), not sure about the other one. EMUs 25/16 towed 279/282 into the yard just after peak and EMUs 61/65 were towing 225/246 at Normanby not long after.

Wonder how you get a minor delay for Sunshine Coast, behind a major delay at Caboolture?

Chaos is continuing if you are from the Sunshine Coast, post copper theft scenarios, where we share the Caboolture line power outage between Morayfield and Burpengary and track fault (broken track) disruptions.
Sunshine Coast, beautiful one day, late the next.

You have to be a really, really, really, keen commuter to remain loyal to QR on the Sunshine Coast.  It's time QR, in 'passenger-focussed' mode, began consulting commuters about issues and projects to be addressed in the next five-year Service Contract Period with Translink, beginning 1 July 2013.  Looks like being same ole 'consultation' -- release of the QR-concocted plan on June 1, 2013, public comment phase closing June 21, proceed with plan from July 1.  Oh, you missed the public consultation?  What a pity!  Just wait five more years.
