What about the AW50F? Might be a tad bit heavy but the bad boys accuracy would 'blow' them away. There's always .50 M99 for that little bit of extra range. If you miss it would still scare the cr%p out of them :P

SMU 202 sighted running empty to Nambour 20 minutes ago, positioning itself for the counter-peak Nambour-Caboolture shuttle (running late and assuming will be further late with the continual crossings/dance of the trains against the peak hour trains from Brisbane)

Chief Network Officer Queensland Rail was just on 612 ABC Radio.  He said amongst other things they are going to replace the copper wire earths with a new aluminum / steel product which is a lot less attractive in terms of scrap value.

CCTV footage is still to be reviewed.  Scrap metal dealers are also on alert.

I will be very interested in FF's monthly summary for delays on the SC Line, July and August.

I will be very interested in FF's monthly summary for delays on the SC Line, July and August.

July 2012 has been a very good month, 3rd best in fact over the past year, losing just 88 minutes.
Compare that to February 2012 where 311 minutes were lost in the month, majority time loss caused by 2 major network breakdowns.

August to date is looking bad, 31 minutes lost in just 3 days. This caused by the copper theft disruptions at Sunshine Coast temporary platform stations and now discovered to be even further widespread.

My 'year on the train' performance results from best month to worst.

DECEMBER 2011 =    46 minutes (12)  Best Monthly Result (Least Time Lost)
MAY 2012 =              62 minutes (11)
JULY 2012 =              88 minutes (10)
OCTOBER 2011 =     110 minutes (9)
JANUARY 2012 =      132 minutes (7)
MARCH 2012 =         132 minutes (7)
APRIL 2012 =           145 minutes (6)
SEPTEMBER 2011 =  184 minutes (5)
NOVEMBER 2011 =   204 minutes (4)
JUNE 2012 =            218 minutes (3)
AUGUST 2011 =       295 minutes (2)
FEBRUARY 2012 =    311 minutes (1) Worst Monthly Result (Greatest Time Lost)

Mr X

Well it is peak hour so you can't expect on time performance 100% of the time. But still 6 hours in 1 month is terrible. Would be interesting to see a monthly OTP breakdown for other lines, but I am sure the Sunshine coast one would be the worst. Curse that single track...

How does the Sunny coast line stack up in off peak?

Trains have resumed on the Sunshine Coast Line, however the trains are running express between Landsborough and Gympie North stopping only at Nambour.

KBL buses (on top of their 649 commitments) operating for stations in between Landsborough and Gympie.

How's that for an express leg. That's more like it!  :-r

Fares_Fair

Very funny HTG :D

I guess the Sunshine Coast is famous for its buses that replace trains due to the single track, share with freight, share with long distance trains, windy track, slow speeds constraints.

I need a  :mu: and  :cc:

I'll have plenty of time to enjoy them.  ???

And a good lie-down, provided you can get a seat out of Central on the way home.

Mr X

GYN commuters must be loving this. Express Bowen Hills to Gympie, stopping only at Caboolture - Landsborough stations and Nambour!

Translink isn't saying much, but there was a bridge strike at Milton just before, meaning many late trains on the ippy line...

We Sunshine Coasters are very used to buses now .... what with 44% of our trains buses anyway, what's a few more?

MY STORY THIS MORNING...

I got a taxi from Palmwoods to Landsborough with 4 others.
We arrived at Landsborough to watch the boom gates go down and our normal train, today an SMU, (6:42am) depart.

Fortunately QR had a 3 carriage train waiting at Landsborough which left about 12 minutes later, and it connected (just) with the 7:24am from Caboolture.
I believe they may have held it for a minute (though no announcement was made upon arrival) which was very considerate.  :-t

Arrived 14 minutes late to Central (from usual theoretical arrival time of earlier service at 8:08am).

All good considering...

Why is the condition of the Sunshine Coast Line allowed to deteriorate such that 'emergency' repairs are necessary?

ozbob

I think the ' emergency repairs ' just reflects the extensive thefts of earth wires and the like, taking a while to repair all the damage.

Still, is taking a while, surely some stations could be back online by now?

On-board warning of delays into the city from EJ due to "restricted signals". Not sure what that's about!

Edit: no delays to Bowen Hills.

I had a brief chat with Annie Gaffney of 90.3 ABC Coast FM this morning regarding the impacts upon commuters. (Thank you Annie)
I have received a report that the disruptions will continue to occur until at least Thursday.
ABC radio are awaiting information from Queensland Rail on the situation.

Palmwoods temporary platform area is now cordoned off (as of Monday night).
Up until then, it had been freely accessible for walk-on commuters, whilst trains bypassed the stations for safety reasons.

These are adding around a 1/2 hour in the mornings and about a 1/4 hour in the evenings, to our already long sojourn.

Have any of the local ' passenger focussed ' MPs had anything to say?

No,
I mentioned in my interview that commuters understand the situation of the copper thefts.
They just want to know when it will be sorted.
