Delays due to bridge strike : Park Road, Milton

Trains in both directions are running slowly near Milton station due to a truck hitting the bridge over Park Road.

Customers should expect delays in this area. Bridge inspectors have been called to the scene.

Only two of four tracks are being used at this stage. Customers at Milton station should note only platforms 1 and 2 are being used until further notice.

Fair, dinkum, bazookas should be aimed at the approaches to these bridges and laser detector beams deployed, designed to fire and obliterate any overheight truck that is about to get stuck underneath.   >:(

I don't see why Park Rd doesn't have height bars before the bridge? At least on the river side anyway, Milton Rd and the intersection would make the other side problematic, though you could put one on Baroona Rd.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Set in train

ABC Radio also reported all trains stopped in peak at Loganlea due to, yes, another, 'police incident'. So in return peak, no trains getting through to Beenleigh, Gold Coast and vice versa.

Ditto.  No need for high tech things.  Just have these bars at all the bridges, except where impractical.

Yeah, you'd only bother with a higher tech solution if there was still an issue and it's impractical to put the bar in. For instance with Park Rd, if there was a high number of trucks turning left from Milton and hitting the bridge, then you could consider something like the height measuring thing they installed on Oxley Rd (didn't do much with the truck the other day did it?) which could flash up warnings for trucks in the left lane. It's better than nothing and you can't really install a height bar across the whole of Milton Rd.

Surely a typo!

ozbob

No, remember the Gold Coast and Beenleigh trains are winging through Tennyson this weekend.  (Track closure http://translink.com.au/travel-information/service-updates/bulletin/1333504209).

There might an issue coming off the Tennyson line onto the subs, trains could be going into Corinda and then reversing onto the subs?

Overheard while having Maccas at Central earlier, apparently it's to do with the Sherwood Loop.

ozbob

That is the Sherwood loop .. where the Tennyson line comes around and joins with sub.

Ah, thought that was a different weekend.

I should just briefly mention that catching a train to Murrarie and then transferring to an express bus direct to Central was quicker than a normal all stations train to Central, lol.

As it should be, an all stations bus might be a bit different ...   :P

Did you travel free because the go card equipment on the bus was not going?

I'm not at all surprised.  This happens in Sydney too.  Chatswood-Wynyard and Strathfield-West Ryde are examples.

What if you are bound for Fortitude Valley?  Do you need to go via Central?  One wonders why this info isn't on the TL website.

I travelled for free, as I've gone well beyond the 10 journeys, and I did touch off regardless at Murrarie with no one saying anything about it.  Not sure about the other passengers though.

The bus ran direct from Murrarie to Central station before continuing on to Roma Street.  If you were going to Fortitude Valley then you just simply jump on the next train heading north at Central.  Not hard.

ozbob

Yes, the notice has gone off the TransLink website, assume the fault has been fixed.  No follow up tweet or erail though.  Must be Sunday afternoon ... :mu: :cc:
