For all the boasting at how amazing the bus and busway system is... still fell over when more pax were added...

The busway system falls over when students leave lectures, let alone when the rail network is shut!

Buses replacing trains at Pomona train station

Sunshine Coast line trains in both directions will not be stopping at Pomona train station due to platform damage from flooding.

A shuttle bus will transport customers who wish to use Pomona station:

Passengers heading north should disembark at Cooran station and catch the shuttle bus to Pomona train station
Passengers heading south should also go to Cooran station and catch the shuttle bus to Pomona train station
The shuttle bus will then pick up any passengers at Pomona train station wanting to travel southbound and drop them at Nambour train station.

This bus replacement service will continue until further notice while repairs to the platform are conducted.

Got through the morning only 90 min late, but then had the bittersweet experience of catching EMU74 back to Nerang at night.  Nice ride as always with the motors going full tilt over longer distances, but it virtually guarantees you end up 5 min late by the time you hit Nerang, so I of course missed my connecting bus...

Most interesting, an in service amalgamation of two three car units to make a six car train.

Hey Mufreight, I thought you said that no longer happened due to safety issues.  And who will be doing the coupling -- the train crew or a qualified coupler brought in from Mayne or somewhere else?

HappyTrainGuy

Probs given more training to the train crew after the Caboolture incident lol.

Great feedback from QR   :-t
Thank you.

Hopefully Palmwoods is ok by the time I arrive home tonight.
The roads usually clear fairly quickly around Mooloolah, Eudlo etc. if the rain stays away or eases.

Unusual that QR have issued these direct, normal process sees TransLink retweet the Queensland Rail notifications and then QR release their own tweets.

Well Translink normally only tweets Train and (very) speroddicly issues with BT buses. Those issues are actually road access issues, so QPS might tweet them.

Sunshine Coast train line: Some access restricted

Localised flooding in the North Coast area is currently affecting access to a number of train stations and some rail shuttle services.

Customers will be unable to access Eudlo, Mooloolah, Palmwoods, Cooran, Beerburrum, Elimbah and Traveston stations by road.

The shuttle bus service between Cooran and Pomona station is currently not running due to road closures.

The Sunshine Coast train line RailBus (route 649) will not be able to service Mooloolah, Eudlo and Palmwoods stations due to localised flooding at Mooloolah.

Trains are still running as normal on the Sunshine Coast line, it is only road access that is affected by localised flooding.

Customers are advised to avoid travel from the affected stations if possible, or check road closure reports prior to travel.

That is what makes this move most interesting as safety issues has been used as the reason why the amalgamation of units can not take place in service

A first?  A train made express to make up time.  Shouldn't there be an additional train starting from Kingston to serve intermediate stations.  Perhaps the 5pm train at Kuraby.

Over the years there has been a number of occasions I can recall of all stoppers being made into express to overcome significant delays.   Used to to happen fairly regularly on the Ippy inbound in the AM peak when there a lot of issues around 2006-2007 particularly.

The highlight for me was though one morning heading into town, due to complicated points failure at Corinda the train run out onto the Tennyson line.  Reversed and headed into town.  Boarded the train at Oxley lead car, arrived at Roma St in the last car ... kind of cool I thought ... lol
