Been some delays through the City this morning for the past hour or so due to a "track fault" at Central on the suburbans. All Up trains required to use P5 at Central. Currently on an ippy train at Toowong running 20mins late due to the congestion...

While I was waiting at Central it was announced the 0923(?) Gold Coast train was around 20mins late, unknown reasons.

Hmm.  Perhaps this is the sort of time that terminating at South Brisbane would be helpful. <ducks>

As it is, I plan to start using South Bank and/or South Brisbane more often instead of Central, so I get a bit more exercise.

At 1.03pm today I received an eRailUpdate SMS advising of a 30 minute delay on the Ipswich/Rosewood Line due to signalling fault with services to resume by 3pm. About 10 seconds later I received another eRailUpdate SMS advising that services for the Ipswich/Rosewood Line had resumed as normal.

Honestly, Translink should hand out a tub of anti-aging cream to every Sunshine Coast commuter each time they use $20 to top up their go-card.

Two truck/bridge strikes in two days... Yesterday a truck hit a bridge at Taringa (so I was told).

Lets just hope the truck drivers concerned were caught and charged for neg driving at the very least (fined for the lost railway revenue would be good too).

Platform 3 at Bowen Hills, platform 3 at Fortitude Valley, and platform 5 at Central and platform 8 at Roma Street are currently not available due to a points failure.

Trains will be using alternative platforms as a result. Please check information screens or ask Queensland Rail staff for assistance.

Delays of up to 5 minutes may be experienced.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Interesting that they have 5 minutes delays for this, yet I've never seen a notice up when they close down the mains or suburbans during the day for maintenance when the service frequency is the same.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Sounds like dead running YLY-CQD still applies for some of the former Tennyson trains.

It's the Tennyson ghost train.

Why did an Airtrain stop for 20 mins at Eagle Jctn this afternoon?

A friend missed a Jetstar flight due to this delay, and the chances of getting any refund from Airtrain would not be great, I'd imagine.

All trains were on time/delayed up to 8 minutes depending on the time of day/direction as all trains were restricted to running two tracks through the city today. Might have been a result of two or three trains running on the single track or other factors at play. From the sounds of it Airtrain would deny any claim as it sounds like the person caught the train too late. For a refund/reimbursement for flights/accomadation your friends schedulled train had to arrive 65 minutes peak/95 minutes off peak prior to their flight departure time (peak times are via the plane departure times).

Thanks, HTG,
My young friend confirms your advice. He admits to betting on getting to the airport about 15 min prior to flight closing - checked in online and no luggage. Gen Y (or is it Z now) behaviour, cut it fine and mostly it works out:)

So how'd he miss his flight then?  Shouldn't take 15 mins to get through the airport.

Brisbane Bus Lines bus broke the boom gate at Arbor Street LX this afternoon. Not sure how long it took before trains were running again.

Because a points issue at Sth Bris should affect IPS/CAB  :-r

There was also a track fault at Toombul (must've been on US) - causing the delay that I was caught up in - but it was fixed just before we got under way - with the next train on US proceeding along US instead of switching to UM like the previous one.

I was in a train on DS - in the middle of two other inbound trains (US and UM).

1.20pm Gympie North-Roma Street train delayed

The 1.20pm Gympie North - Roma Street train is being held at Mooloolah due to local flooding between Mooloolah and Landsborough following severe thunderstorms in the area.

Queensland Rail expects the train will be delayed 30 minutes and arrive at Caboolture about 4.03pm and Roma Street about 4.51pm.

Perhaps yet another fault affecting IPS inbound?

Wonder if it would be better to terminate Shorncliffe trains at Northgate and have them transfer to the Caboolture line than allowing these cascading delays? <ducks>

Overheads fixed in time for northbound Gympielander to proceed north.  At Gympie North it did a dance of the trains with a southbound Tilt Train to allow the tilt to get ahead of the return service, about 12-15 mins between the departure time of both trains.
