Brisbane rail commuters are facing delays due to an overhead power fault between Fortitude Valley and Bowen Hills stations.

Translink said it is expecting delays to continue through the evening.

A spokeswoman said the Caboolture, Ferny Grove, Airport and Shorncliffe lines run under the damaged spot near the Brookes Street overpass.

But they have also said that flow-on delays will still hit other lines, with delays of up to 20 minutes.

Perhaps a combination of zero harm and other, unidentified problems.

Confusion all round. Burpengary just reported on our train as signalling fault, but earlier described as track fault. Announced that no idea how long we will be stuck here at Narangba... On IMU 167.

Why the confusion over the nature of the fault and the likely delay period and when fault will be overcome?  This is not the first time this has happened on the SCL.

Fares_Fair

True, It's to be expected.

TRAINS are now running smoothly in both directions on the Caboolture and Sunshine Coast lines after an earlier delay.

A signal fault at Burpengary trains station late this afternoon caused the delays.

Nine buses were ferrying customers between the affected stops, from Petrie to Caboolture.

Both lines were affected by delays of up to an hour.

Elsewhere, motorists can expect possible delays around the Go Between Bridge following an accident between a vehicle and a motorcycle.

The collision happened about 5.15pm, with the bike travelling northbound.

The 29-year-old male rider of the motorcycle suffered injuries and was taken to hospital but is in a stable condition.

Delays may also occur around the Kelvin Grove area with reports of an incident on Hersten Road and L Estrange Road.

These constant breakdowns, track faults and signal faults on the SCL are becoming intolerable.  They can't be considered one-offs any more.  Clearly there are underlying problems that need to be identified and addressed.  The most remarkable thing is that, despite the adversity delivered them, SCL commuters endure.

Feedback received, thanks.

QuoteYesterday I was on the 6 PM Roma St. to Rosewood train,  Shortly after the units (SMU 204 and 201 )  lost some power , which I later found out that 201 had failed. I was going through my options as we arrived at each station as what I could do as to bail out and catch  the GCL bus.
We made it to Corinda ( 10min Late),where the guard made an announcement that the train had problems and they were going to try and reset the train.
After another 3 mins I got off and went over to the next platform , waited 2 mins and got on the Richalnds and I was off on my way to Oxley.
The bit that annoyed me that no announcements where made to tell the passengers that if you were traveling to Oxley, Darra or Richlands please change to this train.  I was the only one that changed trains at Corinda.

Communication was very poor. I'm sure there where many other that would have liked to be on this train and got home a little earlier.

Commuters from the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane by public transport may as well have paid for a hotel room in the CBD last night. At least they would have had a full night's sleep & made it to work on time.
