Hello,

A public announcement was made at Central station on 24/01/12, moments before the 5:04pm train to Nambour arrived, saying that services would be stopping at Mooloolah due to local flooding. That was very good, and my thanks go to QR for that. Well done!

However, no further announcements were made about this either on the train or via eRail or Tweet, so if pax didn't get on at Central, they had no idea about the upcoming delay (caused by local flooding).

An eRail alert on the Mooloolah delay was NOT issued until 6:48pm, an hour and three quarters after the Central station announcement.

An eRail alert was issued for an earlier delay at Carseldine and that was very good. Thank you for keeping us informed.
The delay at Carseldine was not 'Tweeted' until a direct request was made by Mr Rob Dow of RBoT.
Given that there are known issues and problems with the eRail system (as told by QR's Cust. Advocate).
My eRails stopped working many months ago despite repeated attempts to restore it. Because of this, Tweets need to be consistant.

NO Twitter tweets were issued on the Mooloolah event, when normal practise is to do so.
The non-issue of Twitter alerts, and erail alerts way too late at 6:48pm is not good.

NO twitter tweets on SC line delays is becoming regular, why?

I would have tweeted you only I have been informed that my tweets would not be answered as policy is not to respond to tweets from journalists, or members of public interest groups or politicians, as a matter of policy.
I, as a commuter advocate are none of the above. I would like this point clarified also. (actually I am a member of RBoT)

If these issues are being caused by TransLink, please pass this information onto them.

Finally, thank you for getting us home safely last night through all the flooding. Your staff did an excellent job and for that I am grateful. Well done!

Kind regards,
(Name removed)

LOL,  just don't get it do they ...  not responding often leads to escalation and a lot bigger issue.  TransLink actually responds more often than not which encourages better communication and responsive actions, eg. adding that off peak fares are applicable on the page with the Australia Day travel information.

Noted the 5.05pm ex south bank Ferny Grove express was still on the PIDs at 5.20pm, my guess is a no show due to the Cleveland delays. No biggie as I would have missed it anyway, but can QR and Translink stop assuming all peak pax get on and off in the CBD? I have no doubt the FG express would have been reformed at Roma St, but the Translink update could have mentioned something about it. It also annoys me no end being on a few minutes late service crossing the river to Roma St to get the announcement that our service is now a Shorncliffe service, so we have to wait at Roma St for the next service.

Perhaps the Ferny Grove train still ran but started from Roma St, a few minutes earlier.

For you, it's effectively a cancellation.

I think it is most common for the northbound trains on the Merivale bridge to be late when they came from Cleveland.

Is that the one that runs express form Lindum or something to Park Road? That was frequently known for running express from Park Road to Roma Street because it was held up by a peak direction train on the Cleveland line.

Also, the translink conspiracy continues :P

It also seems the QR twitter feed has been removed from QLD Alert. Maybe they finally realised that it was being run by the marketing department with all its delay issues just being retweeted from the translink twitter feed :P

Never seen express Roma St-Park Rd.  Sometimes, it would make sense because it would allow a late running train to catch up, and another train is running up the DG at the same time anyway.

Thinking back at it more I'm pretty sure it was indeed the 5.05pm train (exCleveland 4.12). When I used it back in 2008-2010 it frequently had to run express to Park Road/South Bank and sometimes to Roma Street if it was held up just a couple minutes as it had to beat the Shorncliffe train which was a exRedbank service run to Roma Street on the subs. Just a few minutes prior to that there was a exRobina-Airport service stopped and as soon as it cleared the signals into Roma Street the exRosewood shuttle which was always held outside of Roma Street for 0-15 mins on the subs slotted in to form the new Doomben service. Hence why the Ferny Grove/Shorncliffe trains always did a swap. It was first into Roma Street. I'll try to find the old timetable to make it more understandable.

4.55: P7 Airport Service new
4.59: P7 Doomben Service exRosewood 3.55 - Straight Arrival.
5.05: P6 Airport Service exRobina
5.07: P7 Doomben Service exRosewood 3.55 - Held Arrival
5.09: P7 Doomben Service exRosewood 3.55 - Depart
5.11: P7 Ferny Grove Express exCleveland 4.12
5.15: P6 Shorncliffe exRedbank 4.38

QR don't tweet delays. They retweet Translinks delays ;)

Thanks HTG, true, the Tweets are controlled (retweeted RT) by TransLink.

Thank you to TransLink and QR for the subsequent tweets regarding later Sunshine Coast/Caboolture line delays at Bald Hills.  :-t :-t

Yeah, if its late they do usually run it from Roma St, but yes it is effectively a cancellation for anyone before Roma St. It would have been good to just have something about it attached to the notice thought. I have occasionally caught the preceding airport service to Roma St if I get off work early enough, just to make sure I get that first Ferny Grove service. I fully understand why they do it, I just don't think that they should. Its not a good way to treat passengers.

I certainly pick the days to NOT get caught up in train delays.  Last time this happened I was at Movie World.  Today I'm at home due to a plumbing issue that I had to get fixed.

Well, there you go lol. Transformer/relay issue IIRC.

Stillwater

lol

It's his first day on the job, the tea lady has just done the rounds and Neil Scales, the new Translink boss, has performed his inaugural task of the day - telling the diminuative woman with Wally Lewis thighs from pushing that trolley for the past 20 years - just how he likes his morning brew.  In his glass eerie, he slumps into his high-backed leather chair, feet crossed on the edge of the jarrah executive desk, and gingerly sips the milky magic Mrs Mopps has prepared with deft hand and air of purpose that hinted she may, in fact, be in charge of the transport giant.

Suddenly, Scales notices a lone grey pigeon as it dives into a dark hole in the vicinity of Fortitude Valley station.  His nightmare has begun.....

lol  :-r

As he sips his milky magic, the luminescent low carbon downlights flicker staccato like, before suddenly falling dim.
As he sits in the darkness, he carefully reconsiders the scene that just flashed before his eyes, before a dawning of recognition crosses his previously placid face.
His milky brew suddenly erupts with ballistic force from his lips, as he gags on the tepid beverage, coughing hard upon the realisation of his worst new work day initiation ...
he grapples through the desk drawers for some kind of light, anything will do ... while he brushes the liquid splash from his suit, shirt and tie.

Just had the misfortune to join a train at Central.  Controlled chaos, all the usuals, wrong announcements, wrong PIDs, wrong platforms and musical platforms.  Some interesting variations, Beenleigh platform 5, Gold Coast platform 5, Shorncliffe and Cleveland moving around a bit, eventually an Ippy turned up.

Anyone know what happened to cause the power issue?
