Concise, accurate, explanations of the issue.

This is how Queensland Rail should do it.  They can do the social stuff too, but they really do need to get a handle on timely and effective communication not only during the weekdays but around the clock when there are ' issues ' ...

Indeed, they need appropriate funding for a 24/7 operation.

Social media transcends all uses for it, it's up to the contributor how they shape use of it - marketing or essential info. But be consistent as Ozbob says.

Biggest problem is the call centre is often in the dark. Should be a journalist type person employed to phone into the bus/train/etc master control rooms and report back if there is a problem.

Track working gang observed this morning approx. 500m north of Beerburrum station.
I wonder if it is related to Sunday's track and electrical faults?

There has been no response from Queensland Rail or TransLink re the SCL issues and miss-communication.  As usual, heads in the sand.  Lets pretend it didn't happen and it will all go away ..

I have made a formal request to TransLink for the location of the fault or faults and what exactly they were.
I was told on Sunday that I would get a response in 2-5 working days.
Today when I called it is now 10 working days ??

If I do not receive a response, then it will be time to call my friends ...

Hopeless ...  obviously it is going to take longer to hatch a plan/spin to cover up than first thought?

One simple email and/or tweet would do.  But hey, lets protect our backsides ...

And they wonder why the public has lost confidence ...

Yes, a simple explanation is best - stuff happens; customers just need to be kept informed.  There would appear to be a bit of an 'election filter' going on - heightened sensitivity in the lead-up to an election.  Things normally handled as business-as-usual within QR/Translink being referred up the line for sign-off, or oversight, by ministerial minders.  Spin backwash.

True, it does.
A simple act of communication would suffice, they, like us, are human (with lots of money and public servants backing them up).

The stonewall of silence perhaps suggests 1 of 2 things.
1. That everyone who knows Robert are already away on holidays ...  ;D
2. or that the track fault and possible later? electrical fault were perhaps located beyond a certain railway station on the north coast line where it narrows into a single track.

I'm going to give the investigation over to the Judge Advocate General's office in QR.
The Customer Advocate.
Stay tuned ...

The TransLink web site now has the Sunshine Coast Line as green - Normal.

Now the question is.  Who was correct as to the time the trains resumed?

Queensland Rail with its advice at 9.28am?  Or TransLink at approx. 2pm?

Hopefully someone was travelling and can let us know ...

[ A little tweet at say 10am would have clarified it nicely now ... ]

I was on the 7.16am ex-FG service that was impacted by this. Big plus about the station spacing in that area: We were told that trains were operating inbound from Grovely, so most of the train just walked there from Keperra. The two police officers at the boom gates were confused by the large crowd emerging from the bushes :P

Though they got it fixed pretty quick, we ended up being on the same train we had hopped off of, it had just done a shuttle back to Ferny Grove in the mean time.

The frequency and cause of these signal faults, not just on the SCL but across the network generally, need further investigation.  Is its a maintenance issue?

Two Gympie North trains delayed by 20mins the same day as a big fare hike. Some happy pax there, not.  ::)

Part of it due to the "Lemons", the ICEs breaking down again.

They're been unreliable machines since being given to Citytrain/QueenslandRail as a hand-me-down. They were originally designed as a limited stops long distance train, not a interurban express to the outer suburb, then stop and go every 5 min train.

You would have hoped signalling would be given a maintenance overhaul during the most recent corridor shutdown for vital repairs etc.

Train services are quite stuffed this evening. Cancelled trains, 6 cars reduced to 3 cars, all stations turning into expresses, delays, etc, etc.
