How does someone even manage to do that, this is as stupid as the cars I see driving around the UQ lakes bus station, often with an old lady in them, If you cant follow a no entry sign then you shouldnt have your license .
"Where else but Queensland?"

HappyTrainGuy

Ah the number of times I've seen a car driven by someone old in the Roma Street-Normanby busway with the blinkers on..... Sunday morning actually  :-r

On a related note, the usual suspect, the ICE (the daytime ex-Gympielander) was delayed by 40 minutes on the return service into Brisbane today.

Train #T5X6 got cancelled between Nambour and Caboolture as a result of the delayed ICE.   I'm assuming the Nambour-Ipswich train had a replacement unit at Bowen Hills as a result of the cancellation.

6:14am Nambour train 10 minutes late due to GlassHouse wait for northbound xover. We are now express Cab to NGate, stopping at Petrie.

Fares_Fair

EDIT: Train was announced as express from Caboolture to Northgate (stopping at Petrie) to make up for the time lost waiting for the crossover at Glass House.  :-t
Normal express pattern for this service is Petrie to Northgate.

One of the best photos I have seen is of somebody whose htchback got stuck on the O-Bahn.  This was at the outbound entrance to the busway at Hackney (the city end), where you can see the rear of the car flanked on all sides by no-entry signs.

Rail commuters delayed after fire scare

QuoteRail commuters delayed after fire scare

July 1, 2011 - 6:12PM

Brisbane commuters are facing delays this evening after Queensland Rail's main suburban control centre was evacuated.

Trains were at a standstill for about 15 minutes after a fire alarm caused the evacuation of Central Station this evening.

A Queensland Rail spokeswoman said the trains had to be stopped "where they are" as a precaution.

"We had to make sure the trains weren't all running without anyone there to control them," she said.

A TransLink spokesman said although the trains were running again, delays of about 30 minutes could be expected for the rest of the peak.

Traffic delays were also expected, as boom gates at level crossings automatically lower in such situations, he said.

Fire alarm grinds trains to a halt

COMMUTERS were left waiting after Queensland Rail staff were forced to evacuate their Control Centre when a fire alarm went off.

Every train on the network was stopped for 20 minutes while staff at the Bowen Hills control room were forced to leave the centre unmanned.

A Queensland Rail spokeswoman said there was no smoke or fire coming from the building at Bowen Hills.

"A smoke alarm went off in the control centre and all staff had to be evacuated as a safety precaution," she said.

"It was believed to be triggered by heat, there was no smoke or fire.

"Passengers experienced delays of up to 20 minutes, the network was suspended as staff had to leave the controls unmanned for some time."

All trains are now back up and running as scheduled.

Well two in two consecutive work days will get them frothing no doubt.

The opposition will ask questions in parliament.  There will be live crosses to commuters eating hot dogs at Central, with comments like 'life sucks, but hey the hot dogs aint half bad .. you got any ketchup?'

6.04pm Central to Nambour train disrupted

The 6.04pm Central to Nambour service will be delayed around 25 minutes due to an earlier mechanical issue. This train is now scheduled to depart Central station at 6.29pm.

This service normally stops at all station between Bowen Hills and Northgate, before running express from Northgate to Nambour. Please be advised that this service will now run express from Bowen Hills to Northgate, and express from Northgate to Nambour station.

Affected Services:

  • Sunshine Coast line

Quoteand express from Northgate to Nambour station.
I certainly hope they meant Express Northgate to Caboolture instead of express all the way to Nambour. That's missing out on the whole North Coast Line stations for Nambour.

Golliwog

As both versions of the trains express sections said Northgate to Nambour, I assume so.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Arnz

Was told this delayed Nambour train departed from Platform 3 (Suburbans) at Central on a newer SMU, and that it was a older IMU that broke down (will stand corrected otherwise.  Only going by the words of a colleague).

Might be more than a 30 minute delay with the backlog of traffic expected.

Derwan

Heard third hand that someone was struck by a train... but that's the conclusion everyone jumps to so I'm not sure if it's accurate.

I was stuck outside the valley for about 5 minutes but arrived at Central okay.

Latest eRail update suggests 1 hour delays.

I hope it is not due to this mornings incident.
Neither QR or TRANSlink can ever be held responsible for the sad event that occurred.

I got to go for a walk in the sun this morning, from Fortitude Valley to the CBD, about 20 minutes - probably did me good with some vitamin D and exercise.
