Gee, I think every boom gate in Brisbane is going to be demolished at least twice this year.

I don't need to know the details.

Just tell me there is a delay and how long and what the alternative arrangements are.

Agree with more details on the train and at stations.  When you're in the middle of a delay, it's good to know exactly what's happening but more importantly, what's being done to get you moving again.

Regarding the boom gates at Alderley, the QPS has just posted this on their Facebook page:

Quote
Police are asking members of the public to come forward with any information regarding a removalist van that has struck the boom gates at Alderley Railway Station, Sth Pine Rd around 8.30am. Please call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.

Did he do a runner?  Wasn't smart, given the fine for hitting the boom gate is pretty token.

From what the radio was telling me this morning, whatever he/she did, they did a damn good job. South Pine Rd was apparently not moving in either direction. Meanwhile I swiftly decided that the 385 was a better choice than the FG line...

The one near FG station hasn't been touched for a while.... (temps fate)

I wonder if anyone would notice if the boom gates (i think its in the middle of mitchy and gaythorne (most likley not the right stations)) got damaged if someone went though them.

Went past South Brisbane Station at 7:50am along the busway...
Was a nice big Train Jam on the tracks beside the busway.. A train on every platform at South Bris , South Bank and trains caught between the two stations.. Add to this, the XPT sitting on the Standard Gauge crossover at South Brisbane..
Got to say, I finally got to see the XPT at S. Bris station and the Airport Train between S. Bris and S. Bank stations + another on the platform at S. Bris all using the dual guage at the same time.
I bet the Fat Controller was having a huge headache !!!

To top that off, the wife was on the Cleveland Exp to City train caught up at Park Road station... She was absolutly fuming.. Sent me texts with very descriptive adjectives.. Was the culmination of having delayed trains all week long either to work or from work ( only 1 day was on time this week )..

Really getting beyond a joke now..

On London Underground a typical announcement would be "This train will be delayed for ...mins, due to .....problem".

Problems are narrowed down to a list of phrases, including "signal failure" and "passenger action".

I think it happened just before 6. I arrived at Central shortly after and they were regurlarly announcing the issue. They also informed us when our train was leaving South Brisbane. Good customer service.

Trains suspended due to police incident

Trains are suspended on the Ferny Grove line due to a police incident.

The 8.28pm Ferny Grove to Central train is stopped at Enoggera station. This service forms a Beenleigh train from Central, however the Beenleigh service is unlikely to be significantly delayed as a new train will be used from the city.

The 8.33pm Central to Ferny Grove train is currently stopped at Wilston.

Sounds suspiciously like yet another level crossing incident.

Maybe, though if it was why stops trains at Enogerra and Wilston? Theres 2 crossings between those two stations, and the outbound train could get to at least Newmarket before having to turn around.

The signalling isn't set up to turn either of the trains around at either Enogerra, Wilston or Newmarket. It would have been a 'wait until Police give the all clear to proceed' situation.

A "Special Proceed Authority" or whatever it is called in QR could have been used to turn the trains around at Alderley, so long as someone could work the points, which are (AIUI) manually operated though.  Isn't that right?  Maybe it would have taken too long and not worthwhile.

Would hardly be worth it. If it was a boomgate incident (or perhaps a suicide threat), it wouldn't have been that long a wait (say 20-30mins max) for Police to do their thing (get rid of the person/be able to control the LX etc.).

Central Station has re-opened after a threat made to Queensland Rail staff was found to be a hoax.
Brisbane's major rail hub reopened at 8.50pm, approximately 50 minutes after Queensland Rail staff evacuated the station due to a bomb threat.
Police attended the station and determined the threat to be a hoax, according to a police spokeswoman.
"Our investigations are continuing in relation to the man and his claim," she said.

This signalling fault was preceded by a unit breakdown at Nambour.
Apparently it had just got restarted when the signals then failed !

Morning 6 car ICE train from Nambour was replaced with a 3 car IMU.

May I ask where the spare 3 car IMU came from?

Fares_Fair

The earlier service, I am told, was the 6 car ICE train after the 3 car IMU broke down.
They then got the 3 car IMU going but ran into signals failure.

I can only assume they must have just swapped the trains around.

They very kindly gave the ice train to the 6 am service, got to travel on the comfy train sitting in a seat instead of standing all the way for the first time in months.

I'm very pleased our good ol' ICE went to a worthy cause.   :-t

Given they were saying services would be suspended for 2 hours from the initial message and it's near Deagon, I'd say something has happened (perhaps a suicide) at the level crossing at Deagon.

I wouldn't be surprised if the the time is extended.

Edit:  The notice is no longer on the TransLink website.  Perhaps trains are running again.
