Sometimes they have to wait longer for the crew that are taking over to arrive I would assume.

These constant delays of 10 minutes or so invariably screw follow on connections.  :frs:

I agree. I also don't understand how a crew replacement can cause a 13 minute delay. Surely it's as simple as one crew leaving the train and the other crew taking over? A couple of minutes, at most.

Many different factors could have been why it was delayed. Eg Time between operating services, crew placement, terminating crews etc etc etc.

Trains suspended: Between Ormeau and Kuraby station
Last reviewed: Tuesday 24 Dec 2019 at 7.27pm (2 hours ago)
Train services between Ormeau and Kuraby station are suspended due to a power outage. Customers can expect delays of up to 90 minutes. Alternative bus transport is being arranged to transport customers.

(Edit: I'm fortunate enough to be travelling home through this mess!)

Edit 2: replacement buses being run by Logan Coaches. Not accessible. Beats me why they use them when both Clarks and Surfside would have plenty of buses available at this time of night. Would it be due to motorway running?

Coming from the south, pax detrained at Coomera. There was 1 bus for Ormeau only (probably would've been better to have a maxi taxi considering passenger loadings), one to Beenleigh, and another express to Kuraby. Passengers for Holmview & Trinder Park to change at Beenleigh. Except the drivers were telling people for Altandi to get on the Beenleigh bus 🙄 I realise it was a bit ad-hoc, but QR staff were giving clear directions and the bus drivers were over-ruling them.

Edit 3: just overheard on the radio one driver asking another if there's trains between Kuraby and the city. Seems hardly anyone knows what's happening.

Edit 4: Arrived Beenleigh. No QR staff in attendance. No one seems to know WTF is going on. Driver of the express Beenleigh-Kuraby bus radios base to find out if there's an all-stops northbound bus between Beenleigh and Kuraby. Apparently there's not, but the express driver agrees to drop me off at my station anyway.

Thanks for the updates.  The storm front was very intense when it went through.  Surprised not more widespread issues.

Every significant unplanned disruption it seems communications get rattled.

Probably because it's put together at very short notice on the run, rather than planned out carefully with the scheduled closures.  The random nature of it (thanks to mother nature and her randomness) can compound things on the ground as they wrangle it all together quickly, obviously communication can be an issue if the situation is fluid and rushed - very difficult to work around, just have to deal with it as best as possible.

Also, I thought Beenleigh station is staffed 24/7 or at the very least from first service to last service?  Only had 1 staff member rostered on so wasn't able to manage the station and the rail replacement buses at the same time
