Ipswich line delays

Trains on the Ipswich line between Sherwood and Ipswich stations are suspended due to an overhead power fault. Alternative transport is being arranged. Passengers can expect delays of up to an hour.

=================

A major issue of course.  Wonder what has failed?  Possibly related to flood recovery or reflects the very poor redundancy built into the system.

I'll hazzard a guess and say its another potential gearbox failure in the newer IMU's :P

ClintonL94

I didn't know what the issue was until now. I was at Beenleigh until 16:05 and the Gold Coast train that was meant to depart at 15:40 didn't leave until 15:54 and I never saw the 15:53 Airport express come into Beenleigh--Just saw that this train was cancelled. 15:59 Ferny Grove train only just left on time, it was in the change-over track until 15:57.

Golliwog

On a side note, I don't know what the cause of it was, but the 7.06am Ferny Grove to City/Beenleigh express lost power (the lights and AC went out, PIDS inside stayed on) between Alderley and Newmarket. It was just like it had gone through a neutral section. Not sure if it was the whole 6 cars, or just the back 3 I was in, but the lights and everything came back on shortly afterwards. The train kept going through all this, but was slowing down as if it was just rolling along with no motors going.

No delay, I just mention it as perhaps this is what happened down there but they didn't manage to fix it.

Is that really what we refer to today as "Central"?  It looks a lot like Roma St

Maybe someone could drag out the original plans and rebuild Nambour station like that.  ;)

HappyTrainGuy

I like the looks of the old Central Railway Station compared to it now.

Does anyone know what happen at Albion Railway Station this arvo? I saw and heard the 3 car Doomben service apply an emergency stop on approach/arrival at the station 10-15 mins before the track fault on the western side of Roma Street. I'm assuming that it was maybe someone that had just got off the Caboolture-Rosewood service and cut across the track infront of the Roma Street-Doomben train.

Caboolture train delays

The boom gate at Lawnton is currently down which is delaying services on the Caboolture line. Queensland Police are now on site directing traffic.

Outbound and inbound services are currently delayed up to 30 minutes due to slow going through Lawton station.

At this time, some services that were due to terminate at Petrie are now terminating at Strathpine due to the large volume of passengers.

Arnz

Speaking of a earlier incident, the 12:45pm ex Central to Nambour got terminated at Caboolture today due to "technical" issues.  (read, crewing issues).   I saw 3 northbound railbuses from CBL and KBL filling in for the cancelled portion of the service.

The ICE from Cooroy got terminated at Landsborough (and formed the delayed 3:04pm Nambour to Roma Street service).  The 3:04pm Nambour to Roma Street service was approx 20 minutes late, the only bright side is that it actually had a toilet for a change!

Unfortunately for the poor passengers from Cooroy, they got transferred to a Glasshouse Country Coaches bus that took them directly to Caboolture (and transfer back to the (Ipswich all-stations) train at Caboolture).   Observations had approx 130 passengers.  2 buses were used (Glasshouse Country Coaches and the 3:04pm normal KBL railbus)  Approx delayed by 50 minutes.

About 50 passengers were left behind, but at least half of them were intermediate passengers between Beerwah and Elimbah that had to wait till 3:04pm for the normal all-stations Railbus (had to feel sorry for the few Brisbane bound passengers that missed out on the first bus).  (edit) On another note, SMs and TOs were helping out, pointing passengers to the direct bus, and intermediate passengers to the normal railbus.
Rgds,
Arnz

Unless stated otherwise, Opinions stated in my posts are those of my own view only.

Fares_Fair

5:14pm Roma Street to Nambour service also delayed by 'signal problems' (if I had a dollar for every time I hear that euphemism used)
at around Lawnton, and ended up being 30 minutes late by Palmwoods.

This was followed by an incident at Caboolture platform 2, platform 1 being without power.
An aggressive drunken passenger tried to get onto the tilt train and was wrestled to the ground.
Customers were advised of an incident and suggested to proceed cautiously around said grounded person.

One things for sure, it's never dull on the Queensland Rail network.

Given the last line of the Courier Mail article, it sounds like someone has thrown themselves in front of the train.

Yeah, it was an IMU160 series and it limped into platform 2 at Roma Street. Gold Coast, Beenleigh, Kuraby, Manly, Ipswich, Rosewood, Redbank, Caboolture, Nambour, Doomben, Ferny Grove, Bowen Hills and want not were departing all from platforms 8/9 at Roma street before shuffling Cleveland, Beenleigh and Gold Coast services across to platforms 4-5. EMU36 I think was stuck in the tunnel Brunswick Street side waiting for platforms 1-2 at central to clear after the Gold Coast train failed in the tunnel on the Roma Street side. (A 3 car EMU for Kuraby was at platform 1 while a 6 car SMU desto for Manly was on platform 2).

EDIT: Because of rollingstock being in places where they shouldn't be (EMUs on the Airport line etc) the 9.24 Nambour train was delayed by about 15-20 minutes while IMU110 was split from IMU104 which was running as a heavily delayed Gold Coast service during the mess earlier today.
