Brisbanetimes --> Gold Coast train disabled by debris deliberately put on track, police believe

A Gold Coast train was immobilised and its passengers stranded on Thursday after hitting debris that police believe was deliberately put on the tracks.

The incident happened between Ormeau and Coomera stations about 10.30pm and the train suffered damage underneath.

Queensland Rail chief executive Nick Easy said there were no injuries.

"QR is working with police, who are investigating an act of suspected vandalism that caused major delays to Gold Coast line commuters last night," he said.

"From approximately 10.20pm until midnight, trains were suspended while we worked with emergency services to evacuate the customers from the train, who were then provided with alternate transport to their destinations.

"We'd like to thank our customers for their patience during what was a difficult situation."

Detectives are investigating and anyone with information should call Policelink on 13 14 44.

Who knows why?  Probably another ' rollingstock issue '.  These constant random service cancellations are a real concern, particularly out of peak when service frequency is ratsh%t.  They have to do better than this, all levels, Government, TMR/TransLink, & operators ...
