Increase in service disruptions due to ' rollingstock issues ' on Queensland Rail Citytrain network

For the period from ~ 2pm on the 28th May 2019 through to ~ 4pm 29th May 2019 there were 20 service disruptions reported by TransLink due to ' rollingstock issues '. Most of these resulted in service cancellations ( https://railbotforum.org/mbs/index.php?topic=1862.msg222954 ). This is a very high rate of disruption on the network. RAIL Back On Track has been concerned with the constant, albeit lower level, of service disruptions due to ' rollingstock issues ' for some time.

As the number of New Generation Rollingstock (NGR) trains increases and the aged trains decommissioned it would be a reasonable expectation that train reliability would improve. This appears not to have happened. Consequentially RAIL Back On Track has made a Right To Information (RTI) application seeking the number and the exact nature of faults with NGRs that have lead to delays and cancellations over the last six months. Feedback and some observations suggest that problems with doors may be an ongoing issue.

Some of the ' rollingstock issues ' would be related to trains other than the NGRs, but as NGR will be the bulk of the train fleet in the not to distant future, how they are really performing would be insightful, hence our RTI application.
