Alternative transport has started transporting customers in both directions.

Going to be difficult for the punters to get to Petrie at the rate the services are being pulled.  Maybe they are slowing the influx at Petrie for the buses ..

Hi Robert, unfortunately a bird has come into contact with the section insulator, causing the overhead powerlines to short circuit. As a result, the catenary wire has been damaged and repair works are required. Our crews are on site working to repair the issue and we will provide customers with further updates regarding the resumption of train services as more information comes to hand. Thanks.

Central Station staff were saying dewirement this arvo when we asked when they came in to us for their afternoon coffee fix. Seems to contradict their social media though.

PSA are on a different communication network and don't get the same live feedback that operations do. At first control probably had fault showing signs of a dewirement (because the lines wouldn't reenergise/they would re-energise only to turn off straight away) and until someone was able to inspect and confirm what the source for the short circuiting was it may not have fed back and filtered through all the psa staff in a timely matter.
