Rollingstock reliability is a serious issue.  Any one know what (if anything) is being done to improve it?

Now this is just absolutely pathetic. Was there not another single unit in Mayne Yard that could've been used for this service? Especially when the next service is two hours later!
This to me just smacks of laziness and incompetence.

Not exactly - especially when crew reserves are pretty much at 0 at that time of night. It also depends when the unit failed. Where it failed. And where crews are positioned. I think from memory the first Saturday Ipswich night link service is made up of the last Friday night Caboolture terminator which arrives there at 2am. Later in the day that same train gets stowed back at Caboolture when the Nambour service comes through and replaces it. If another unit came out of Mayne it would have to dead run so the first Ipswich-City train isn't affected.

It's still a pretty bad look for a "world class" transport network - there's already only one NightLink train service running, to cancel it leaves an extra 2 hour wait for some very 'tired and emotional' patrons. You would hope at the very least, there'd be the opportunity to organise some maxi taxis going to the further flung stations, or ask one of the BT services to divert on their last run of the night out to Graceville/Sherwood/Darra.

I think pax on the 5:07am Ipswich - Central on a Sunday morning would deal with a bit of late running - I wouldn't be surprised if the NightLink train is busier!
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

It's crew positioning. For example they then go and get the rosewood shuttle and operate that. So you help those on the night link while now delaying those connecting to Ipswich services from rosewood.

Hasn't been a good weekend for Punter Passenger on the trains hey?

The on time running data is buried in aggregate statistics to disguise it.  Despite assurances a few months that OTR reporting would be improved nothing has happened.  When low frequency services are pulled the impacts are very significant of course on Punter Passenger.  Even when they are only 10 minutes late, it fuks connections be it bus or sometimes rail.  This in turn means very long waits or having to find another way home, eg. taxi etc.

World class shambles and no-one except ourselves really cares by the looks of things.   :pr
