Tennyson Line change

Train services on the Tennyson Line (Corinda-Yeerongpilly) are not operating due to ongoing flood damage repairs to rail infrastructure.

The 104 bus service is available as an alternative on this route.

The following services are changed:

The 5.16am Shorncliffe to Darra service will travel via Milton (not via the Tennyson line).

The 6.26am Doomben to Corinda service will end at Yeerongpilly. Passengers can connect with Bus 104 from Yeerongpilly.

Trains currently delayed on the Ipswich Line because some twit smashed the boom gates when driving through the level crossing at Wacol. An inbound train is sitting at Wacol station awaiting police to arrive to take control of the level crossing.

Full cost recovery, no licence for 2 years. Second offence life.  That should sort them ..

19 January 2011

Greetings,

Ipswich Line delays

The Ipswich Line may experience delays of up to 30 minutes due to a traffic accident at the railway crossing on Station Road at Wacol.

==================

The tough run continues.  Bridge strikes, fools driving into boom gates and the like.  It is time the Queensland Government finally heard the message.  These idiots should not be on the roads. Full cost recovery for the damage and delays they cause, licence suspensions 2 years for a first offence, second life.  Dangerous fools who drive around or through activated rail crossings (i.e. race trains or drive around activated boom gates) should be suspended for life.

It is pleasing that attempts will be made now to recover the costs of the damage done by the graffiti grubs.  The tagging of the trains whilst they were moved to high ground during the flood (they are  normally kept in wire cages to help protect them from the grubs) is almost in the same league as looting.  It was very wise to move the trains to high ground to ensure trains operational after the floods.  It is time now to sort out the grubs.

The community is tired of the failure to sort these issues.

After pleading for a number of years, some bridge protection devices have been installed of late. These have reduced the bridge strikes at those locations.

Time to sort out the rest.

Best wishes
Robert

How could they NOT know? The train is stuck to the tracks, the gates move up and down.
What is the car doing? Rail light camera! Snap their number plate and fine them.

In the long run, all crossings will need to be grade-separated

Apparently trains from the Gold Coast, Beenleigh and Cleveland are running express via Tennyson loop due to a truck thinking it was smaller than the rail bridge at South Bank station about 25 mins ago.

That seemed to have been cleared by the time I went through there at about 2:40pm.  There were still some outbound delays though.

The floods and the severe weather will make the network more prone to signal and track faults for a while  I would guess.  In the days of Signal boxes and rods, the networks were very resilient.

Many level crossing incidents would be avoided if the road rules were obeyed.
