Has QR said why there were power issues?

For context, at 10pm last night I saw an NGR sitting on the platform at Corinda station. Could this have anything to do with it?
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

^ I understand there was Energex supply problem.  Signals/telemetry was running on battery backup till it ran out.

QR don't have any form of alternative supply? That's just ridiculous.

I realise that, I'm just surprised QR don't have a backup feed. To have only one feed to such an important section of the network seems like poor planning. I could understand if maybe it was an outer section like Ipswich-Rosewood or something but at Corinda...no.

You can't supply one circuit from two feeds though, that's why there are section breaks on the overhead.

We where discussing amongst non train friends why the lights go on and off on the trains. Regarding the different sections on the overhead, my energex sparky friend said "in the words of Egon Spengler "don't cross the streams, it would be bad"." (Ghostbusters)  ;D

The signalling probably follows the section breaks. To get it going again, it is probably a case of determine fault, check if safe, restart (which might be quite complicated rather than just 'click').

Back up feed. Come off it. You will need a lot of power. And some trains will draw a lot of electricity to the point where they could potentially trip safety measures. Melbourne was famous for this where they opened new stations and suddenly the overheads tripped and shut off for safety.

I think achiruel is referring to the signalling, rather than the overhead.
