Couriermail --> Major disruption for rail commuters on Gold Coast and Airport lines

Rail commuters heading in and out of Brisbane faced major disruption following the suspension of services after an emergency incident to the south of the city.

Queensland Rail reported services on the Gold Coast/Airport lines had to be suspended in both directions from Beenleigh-Helensvale stations as a result.

The line was closed as a precaution due to a 50m by 10m vegetation fire that broke out at Coomera this afternoon.

By 5.30pm services had been restored, although frustrated commuters were still experiencing residual delays.

A MAN was last night shot by police in front of terrified travellers at Brisbane International Airport after allegedly pulling a "huge serrated knife" on a woman in the food court.

Specialist police fired at the man with non-lethal beanbag rounds just after 9pm and he was taken into custody.

It is understood the 50-year-old man, from Surfers Paradise, pulled the knife on a family member and threatened that he had a bomb during a domestic violence incident.
