Whilst passing through Petrie this morning on the 10:29am (ex Landsborough) service to Roma Street,  I've noticed there were construction workers on all platforms, and Platform 1 is already partially raised in the middle to high-level standard (similar to Fortitude Valley Station).

Makes me wonder, could this form the basis of DOO (Driver only operation) Nambour/Gympie trains in the future (after duplication works up to Landsborough)?

Reasonable speculation Arnz, but I think it is just part of the general DDA compliance upgrades.
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...

You are correct - the platform raising is part of the DDA complianace and is embedded in a more comprehensive upgrade to the station which includes lifts to the new eastern carpark, a complete refurbish of the island platforms 2 and 3 and enhanced bus setdown areas.
Petrie is a very busy station, unfortunately exacerbated by the resistance to construct the kippa ring line which would service the North Lakes, Kallangur and Mango Hill developments, thus easing car parking  and bus congestion at Petrie and possibly saving bulk carbon emmissions!!!!

Very little chance of the proposed Redcliffe line ever being built while there is so much road/freeway construction currently underway.I would like to see the Kippa Ring line built but history reminds us of the many hollow promises made in the past to improve/expand the rail network.
One can always hope.
