Hi everyone,

I guess you have noticed the height of the new gantries to carry rail power lines at Corinda to Darra works, it is fairly obvious to me that someone is thinking ahead to the introduction of Double Decker Trains in the future.

Apart from the wire height and a few tunnels there is no reason why we should not introduce these to our network.

If the rail network is running out of capacity on the lines and platforms then Double Deckers would be a smart move and to do it here now is the cheapest option.

ButFli

If we are talking about passenger trains then double deckers are the way of the past, not the future. There is a reason why Cityrail is not getting any more double deck trains.

Let's not even start on the technical aspects of double deckers on narrow gauge.

It wouldn't be a smart move as soon as the double decker train tries to get through a QLD loading gauge tunnel. Ouch!
