^ These are the only times in the LNP ' LNP The Right Priorities For Queensland's Future ' document (23 double pages [46 single pages]) that transport is mentioned. Page references below are the double page numbers.

A nothing burger ...  :woz:

Page 15

" ... When projects have cost overruns, other critical works
get delayed or cancelled. That's roads that can't get
widened, intersections that can't be made safer and
rail crossings that will continue to cause delays to
motorists and public transport. ... "

Page 15

" ... Whether it is the growing threat of water restrictions
because new water supplies haven't been secured,
the lack of energy security with ever-growing
demands on our electricity grid or the ever-growing
traffic congestion because transport infrastructure is
lagging behind, this Labor Government's decisions are
impacting our way of life. ... "

Page 15

" ... We will restore discipline to the delivery of new
transport, utilities and social infrastructure. Projects
will be properly planned and then delivered prudently,
with the aim of maximising the benefit of every
taxpayer dollar. ... "

Page 17

" ... An LNP Government will also ensure regional
Queensland has the transport links, health services
and social infrastructure needed for their continued
prosperity.  ... "

Page 18

" ... She is worried about the Brisbane-centric focus of
the Labor Government and the impacts on transport,
infrastructure, health and policing. She's worried
the Government seems to have checked-out on the
important decisions and has no interest in consulting
regional Queenslanders about decisions impacting
their lives. ... "

Blue team need to be asked why transport is not prominent in their plans.

We do know they generally support the Sunshine Coast line. In a prior term, they did introduce 15 min trains to parts of the Beenleigh, Ferny Grove and Cleveland lines.

Alternatively, they might just run with the Second M1 Red Team has proposed. At c. $10 billion  (total package) it is a large amount of money that means less available for everything else.

They support the Coomera Connecter and faster rail to the Gold and Sunshine Coasts as well as to Toowoomba. This has been evident.

Not a single policy or anything on their website? I googled QLD LNP Transport and got generic list of members and a BAT Media Release from 2013 + Campbell Newman media releases  :fp:  :fp:  :fp:  :fp:  :fp:  :fp:  :fp:  :fp:  :fp:  :fp:  :fp:  :fp: Says a lot!!!

Ok, but would they do anything to action it?

Newman supported SC line duplication too, but did nothing about actually laying any track.

Blue team have committed to the 37km rail from Beerwah to Maroochydore, should they win the October 2024 election.

FYI there was a reason for Ferny Grove going to 4tph and it wasn't for passenger benefit. Same with what was happening internally and similar to the Sunshine Coast line. They supported heavy rail but it came with a disclaimer of if they got reelected and privatising other state assets. Other lines planned to have frequency boosts but haven't gone ahead. MBRL was to be boosted to 4tph with a revised bus network (timetable still reflects this) and other factors have prevented frequency boosts elsewhere eg fleet uncertainty. I know it's not an excuse but when you potentially have 54x 6 car trains being removed from service, rollingstock refurbs, NGR rectifications, mandatory cab compliance designs and other infrastructure in the pipeline fleet availability becomes problematic. Newman can keep gloating about how cheap the NGRs are to run but they have single handily resulted in higher network costs once staffing cost from the required PSA are factored in. The same LNP also removed future network provisions from L2P and MBRL as gold plating.

The Australian --> Queensland LNP unveils election bus ahead of October election $

QuoteQueensland's state election has kicked off, with the LNP unveiling its campaign bus with a new slogan just days after the parliamentary term ended.

The blue bus emblazoned with the slogan "The right plan for Queensland's future" was revealed before a hundred party faithful on Sunday, six weeks out from the October 26 election.

Mr David Crisafulli, flanked by members of his shadow cabinet and about two dozen candidates, would not officially declare the announcement was the start of a faux campaign following the end of the first fixed four-year parliamentary term last week, instead saying the opposition was "hungry" to get going. ...

Queensland's 50¢ public transport fares backed by both sides
The Australian Financial Review
James Hall and John Kehoe
Sep 15, 2024 – 5.01pm

Economists say permanently slashing public transport fares to 50¢ in Queensland is yet another example of wasteful government spending that will add to government debt and inflation pressures.

A state election pledge by the Labor government for indefinite 50¢ public transport fares was matched by the Liberal-National party over the weekend...

Build
To build the infrastructure needed for the future of our regions and deliver a world-class Olympics and Paralympics, the LNP's plan includes a 100 day review, traffic congestion busting projects and more water security.
100 days to fix Labor's mess

Deliver a plan for the Olympics and Paralympics:

We will deliver a lasting legacy for our State by appointing an Independent Olympics Coordination Authority to conduct a 100 day review and map out what infrastructure and transport is needed for Queensland and the Games.
We will ensure these Games are a world-class event, not an embarrassment for Queensland on the world stage.

Better roads

Getting Queenslanders home sooner and safer:

We will get our busy roads flowing again by upgrading critical traffic chokepoints.
We will boost safety and reduce transport costs by upgrading regional roads.
We will deliver existing and new projects on time and on budget.

A safer Bruce Highway

For now and the future:

We will provide a long-term upgrade plan to bring the Bruce Highway up to safety standards by reinstating a Bruce Highway Trust.
We will hold the Federal Government accountable to the long-standing 80/20 funding contribution for our national highway.

We'll put an end to the Caloundra carpark and get traffic moving on the Sunshine Coast again.

With more than 32,000 vehicles travelling the choked Caloundra Road corridor every day, the current network is simply not up to scratch and needs significant work to accommodate future population growth.

That's why the LNP today committed $400 million for a congestion busting traffic plan if elected, which includes:

👉 Completing the Nicklin Way to Third Avenue connection to take traffic off the Nicklin Way-Caloundra Road roundabout, providing alternative access into Caloundra CBD.

👉 Delivering a new link between Aura Boulevard to Pelican Waters Boulevard to ease pressure on Caloundra road.

👉 Constructing a new Kawana Way Link Road/Bells Creek Arterial Road overpass over Caloundra Road to keep traffic moving.

👉 Signalising the Bellvista Boulevard-Caloundra Road intersection and upgrading with slip lanes to and from Caloundra Road to boost capacity and move vehicles more quickly.

👉 Fast-tracking construction by directing TMR to commence planning for a congestion solution for the Nicklin Way/Caloundra Road roundabout.

Our Safer Road, Better Transport program will target the biggest pinch-points along the Caloundra Road corridor, divert traffic from congestion hotspots, boost capacity at key intersections and create additional connections to the Caloundra CBD.

It's all part of our Right Plan for Queensland's Future.

ABC News --> Qld Opposition says incomplete Sunshine Coast rail line would be 'embarrassment' at 2032 Olympics

Quote... Deputy Opposition leader Jarrod Bleijie said the 100-day review would work out how to build the full 38km Sunshine Coast heavy rail line from Beerburrum to Maroochydore by 2032, to ensure there is adequate transport for the region, "inclusive of the Mooloolah River Interchange, which is on the same transport corridor as that rail project". ...

Gold Coast Bulletin --> David Crisafulli's light rail pledge to southern Gold Coast $

QuoteLNP leader David Crisafulli has spelled out what he says will be a key difference in his government's approach to light rail if he wins next month's election.

LNP leader David Crisafulli has again declined to commit to building a rail line to Gold Coast Airport.

The Opposition has announced it will review plans to extend light rail to the airport if elected next month, while plans to extend the heavy rail line from Varsity Lakes remain on the back burner. ...

How utterly disrespectful to the vast vast majority who want the Light Rail exactly where it is planned to go just to pander to the vocal (borderline delusional ) few who just want their daily car park!!

If the public didn't want this they would have voted en mass for local Government candidates that opposed it...but they did the exact opposite!!

SilverChased

As a non-vocal majority, it does annoy me when a small minority can successfully lobby the government to do something against the interest of the majority.

I don't live there so I don't feel like I'm in a position. Obviously I'd love a direct route to the airport to encourage usage. Slower public transport becomes unused public transport that is difficult to fix. It's easier to add frequency than fix alignments or routes.

#Metro

I don't support the concept of Brisbane Metro BRT being put on as a filler to fill the gap between wherever the Gold Coast LRT will end and Gold Coast Airport (777 bus already does this), but it does seem like that is exactly what will happen.

so 4 longer-electric-buses need to be available for every tram arrival/departure to move the same number of people. brilliant idea.  Makes total sense. totally feasible and cost effective.

SurfRail

If they get light rail to Biggera Waters or further north it won't be a total loss.

My conception for Burleigh to the border until Stage 4 materialises is basically to run 16 buses per hour during the day as follows.  It would require removing street parking through Tallebudgera and Palm Beach and proper bus priority.

- 8 x Route "701" (which would be the current Burleigh to Tweed length of Route 700).  This would basically mirror the tram timetable so would scale up or down to match, including extras during special events.  This would run 24/7.
- 4 x Route "702" (which would be the current Burleigh to The Pines chunk of the current Route 765).
- 4 x Route 777 (which would have the same stopping pattern between the airport and Thrower Drive, then all stops to Burleigh)

Either the 702 or 777 would extend to Varsity Lakes.

South of Thrower Drive you would have Route 760 running on top of Route "701" as it does currently - 15 minute headway if possible.  The 777 would continue to use the GC Hwy and run non-stop through this bit, or maybe stopping on the GC Hwy at Tugun and at Currumbin Sanctuary at its own stops.

Route 700 would only operate late nights when the light rail is not operating, and would run all the way from Helensvale to Burleigh where you would connect to Route "701".  In time I would like to see Route 704 and 750 run 24/7 as well, although might only need hourly service and for the 704 might only be needed from Helensvale station to Southport station.

I am privy to some of TL's planning for the Stage 3 opening and it isn't 100% this, but I think this is the minimum credible offering.

The LNP will deliver more feeder bus services to take commuters to Geebung Station and the nearby shops 🚌🚊

Locals know that the Geebung Station carpark is full every single morning. Overflow parking reduces accesibility, restricts access to local businesses and frustrates neighbours.

We have a plan to provide direct, frequent and convenient bus services to the station and surrounding shops, schools and services to make public transport accessible.

Feeders from where?
What about spreading out the load on the train line, rather than concentrating in one spot?
I hope the buses aren't driving further than they need just to get to Geebung.

336/337 running before and after peak hours now?

But as I mentioned in the BEEP thread it's not all locals parking at Geebung. Albany Creek/Bridgeman Downs/Aspley residents also use it as it's a quick run west.  Zillmere/Taigum residents also use it opposed to Zillmere and Carseldine due to the straight run north. Too many lights and congestion if you want to head west to those stations. This is why selected and targeted upgrades of areas across the Northside doesn't work. It needs to be a whole approach. Especially if you want to use new local feeders as a test bed as you'll end up with conflicted results.

SilverChased

I parked there coming from Sandgate too just because it is express.
Although today I parked at Sunshine. I like how quick it is to get to the platform because I don't have to go up and down 100 stairs.

🚉🛤 Direct rail to Maroochydore by 2032? 🚉🛤

The LNP has committed to building the Direct Sunshine Coast Rail line to Maroochydore by 20-32, despite Labor's claims that can't be achieved.

Labor has already pledged $2.75 billion towards building a dual track from Beerwah to Caloundra, ahead of the Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games.

LNP Deputy Leader Jarrod Bleijie says if elected, his party would ensure the line extends an extra 19 kilometres north within the same timeframe.

"We've talked to industry who build these things, and they have said the original commitment to rail to Maroochydore by 2032 is achievable," Mr Bleijie said.

"It can be done, and most importantly it must be done.

"The Sunshine Coast has been promised this project for over 20 years."

The party says it would fund half of the $12 billion cost of the project, with the Federal government to pay the remainder.

Bart Mellish, the Minister for Transport and Main Roads, says the business case makes it clear the entire line to Maroochydore can't be built by 2032.

"The LNP need to explain to Queenslanders how they will deliver this project in full," the mnister said.

"We know the total unfunded cost to Queenslanders no equals $17.3 billion.

"The LNP need to tell Queenslanders where this funding is coming from ... what projects will they cut to pay for it?"

Of course it is achievable, but with a tonne of other projects and Olympics construction going on at the same time it will absolutely attract a massive cost premium.
