Section 2: from the intersection of Moggill Road and Chapel Hill Road to the intersection of Moggill Road and Kilkivan Avenue just south of the Kenmore Roundabout

Good initiative, and I know the roundabout upgrade scrapping has effectively funded this, but I'm interested in seeing how they handle the bikeway going through that roundabout. Roundabouts are inherently dangerous to cyclists (and pedestrians).

Great opportunity for a Dutch style protected roundabout!

Moggill Road is a known fatality site for two cyclists in separate incidents.

Separated cycleway is great. The same prioritisation framework for PT can be used, and this looks like mostly Priority A.

Amazing value for just $12.5 million. I don't think there are any transport projects around that cost as low as that.

Question on Notice
No. 1036
Asked on 13 October 2022

DR C ROWAN ASKED MINISTER FOR TRANSPORT AND MAIN ROADS (HON M BAILEY)

QUESTION:

With reference to local community consultation on the Queensland Government's proposed
designs for the Kenmore Roundabout Upgrade Project concluded on the 18 of April 2021—
Will the Minister provide an update on the status of this project, including timelines for the release
of updated designs and any further planned community consultation to be undertaken?
ANSWER:

I thank the Member for Moggill for the question.

The community feedback received in April 2021 for the Kenmore Roundabout Upgrade project
did not support changing the roundabout to a signalised intersection. Through consultation it was
identified that 94 per cent of local residents opposed the project. Since this time, the Department
of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has continued to investigate options for the Moggill Road
corridor, including improving active transport facilities through Kenmore, to ensure the committed
$12.5 million in funding benefits the Kenmore community/

Moggill Road is identified as a principal cycle route in the South East Queensland Principal Cycle
Network Plan. It provides a direct connection from the suburbs of Kenmore, Pinjarra Hills and
Chapel Hill towards Brisbane City, also linking to the Centenary Cycleway and key centres at
Indooroopilly and Toowong. TMR will be consulting with the community shortly on a three stage
rollout of improved active transport along the Moggill Road corridor, which will identify the
communities preferred solution.

The Palaszczuk Government is delivering its seventh record transport and roads infrastructure
program in a row, as detailed in the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program
2022–23 to 2025–26, which outlines $29.7 billion in investment over the next four years and is
estimated to support an average of 25,200 direct jobs over the life of the program. Of this,
$3.858 billion is committed across TMR's Metropolitan Region, estimated to support an average
of 3280 direct jobs over the life of the program.

Most of which will be spent on generating more traffic congestion!!!

Might as well be asking "We want to know how you use the road drainage now and how you would like to see it improved with modern drainage"!!

TMR need to stop consulting about "if and how" and start educating about "why always"
