Council of Mayors SEQ - 32 for 2032 projects with just the public transport projects listed:
https://railbotforum.org/mbs/index.php?topic=14452.msg252877#msg252877

Gold Coast Urban Rail Line Extension Project 9
Open Level Crossing removal project 10
Gold Coast Light Rail Extension 10
Ipswich to Springfield Rail line extension  8  (Springfield to Ripley North 10)
Salisbury to Beaudesert Rail Line 9
Sunshine Coast Light Rail 10
Faster rail (Brisbane to Sunshine Coast) 10
Cleveland Rail Line Duplication 10
North West Transport Corridor (Rail and motorway from Bald Hills to Stafford Road) 10
Bus Rapid Transit Toowoomba to Ipswich 8
Faster Rail (Brisbane to Ipswich) 9

All the public transport projects have merit, and we have been advocating for all of them with the exception of BRT Toowoomba to Ipswich. Guess this ends the notion of fast rail to Toowoomba as with the lack of SEQ Mayors support little chance , but the chances are slim for completion of most of them by 2032 to be honest.

The scores are mine, with 10 being the highest priority.  What are your priorities for this list?

Half of Council of Mayors' (SEQ) Olympic Projects Guarantee More Congestion

22nd November 2021

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport passengers says half of the 32 Olympic Projects (1) identified by the Council of Mayors (SEQ) will just create more congestion from the existing population (2) and belong in last Century not in a city holding the 2032 Olympics.

No city in the world has reduced congestion by building more roads.  As Transportation for America, an advocacy organisation made up of US local, regional and state leaders, note in their recent report The Congestion Con, "In an expensive, decades-long effort to curb congestion in urban regions, our transportation agencies and elected leaders have overwhelmingly prioritized spending hundreds of billions of dollars to widen and build new highways. Yet this strategy has utterly failed to "solve" the problem at hand and...has actually made it worse."  In SEQ we are still throwing good money after bad doing just this.

Do we want visitors attending the games telling family and friends "Skip Brisbane. It's just one big ugly traffic jam"  Because this is exactly what these projects will deliver.  Guaranteed.

RAIL Back On Track calls on the Premier and the Minister for Tourism, Innovation and Sport and Minister Assisting the Premier on Olympics and Paralympics Sport and Engagement to throw these projects out of any Olympic planning and refocus the transport infrastructure spending on safe and accessible active/public transport including a A Fast Rail Vision for SEQ (3).  Lets leave a legacy similar to Vancouver's Multi-Modal Success Story (4) not LA's 20 lane freeways.

Received a reply from the Council of Mayors (SEQ).

" The Journo simply lifted the list from our PMMS study released in 2019 and took the ones that had been identified for 2031 time horizon.  In that study we identified BRT as the first step to fast rail to get patronage and commuting to happen while waiting for rail to be delivered. "

[PMMS = SEQ People Mass Movement Study https://seqmayors.qld.gov.au/initiatives/seq-people-mass-movement-study-20190123 ]

So Toowoomba fast rail is still the end game.   :-t

Fast Rail to Toowoomba

Greetings

We note that in the Couriermail today (20 Nov 2021) there has been a list published " .. The Council of Mayors South East Queensland had identified its list of 32 projects it says all levels of government must commit to building before Brisbane's 2032 Olympic Games. .. "

https://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/seq-olympics-2032/32-olympic-projects-to-transform-how-you-get-around-seq/news-story/c9974304bbb4ec1708ecd4916633cb32

Queensland Parliament

Question on Notice
No. 1460
Asked on 17 November 2021

MR S MINNIKIN ASKED MINISTER FOR TRANSPORT AND MAIN ROADS (HON M BAILEY)

QUESTION:

Will the Minister advise if the Department of Transport and Main Roads has determined which
transport infrastructure projects will need to be delivered prior to the 2032 Olympic Games?

ANSWER:

I thank the Member for Chatsworth for the question.

In awarding the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (Brisbane 2032) to Brisbane and
Queensland, the International Olympic Committee recognised the quality of our transport system,
the Palaszczuk Government's commitment to enhancing our networks and services, and our
successful track record in delivering transport for major events including the Gold Coast 2018
Commonwealth Games.

Transport infrastructure to support Brisbane 2032 will first and foremost be designed to meet the
needs of Queensland's growing population, including maintaining our strong commitment to
investment in regional Queensland. Transport priorities to support this growth are set out in the
Regional Transport Plans.

The Brisbane 2032 bid identified a range of major road and public transport projects—already
committed—to support operations for Brisbane 2032. These projects include:

 Cross River Rail
 Brisbane Metro
 Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3
 Beerburrum to Nambour Rail upgrade
 Northern Transitway
 Eastern Transitway
 Gateway Motorway Upgrade (Bracken Ridge to Pine River)
 Bruce Highway Upgrades (Pine River to Sunshine Motorway)
 Pacific Motorway upgrades (Eight Mile Plains to Tugun)
 Coomera Connector
 Centenary Motorway bridge upgrade
 Warrego Highway upgrades.

These projects will provide critical extra network capacity and improved network reliability.
Additional transport infrastructure—road, rail, bus and active transport—will be required to
support Queensland's growth while meeting the Brisbane 2032 transportation task. The scope
and priority of these additional projects will be determined through further detailed planning,
undertaken in collaboration with the Australian Government and local councils.

The Palaszczuk Government welcomes the Australian Government's announcement that it will
contribute funding towards essential infrastructure for the Olympics on a 50:50 basis with the
State. Inter-governmental frameworks to coordinate infrastructure priorities and confirm cost
sharing arrangements between the three levels of government are currently being developed.
The Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program 2021–22 to 2024–25 is the sixth
record transport and roads infrastructure program in a row, outlining $27.5 billion in investment
over the next four years and estimated to support an average of 24,000 direct jobs over the life
of the program. Of this, $11.1 billion is committed across South East Queensland, which is
estimated to support an average of 9600 direct jobs over the life of the program.

Queensland's world-leading pandemic response has made it the place to be and, to support the
State's population boom, significant road upgrades are being delivered as part of Queensland's
COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan. With Brisbane 2032 on the horizon, these upgrades provide
immediate economic benefits, support more jobs and deliver ongoing benefits of vital
infrastructure for years to come.
