hourly running costs?

Is there a rule of thumb for how much a QR citytrain service costs to run per hour?
Note, I need a per hour cost, not a per km cost.

Not publicly but it shouldn't be hard to estimate based on two full time staff paid $100,000 each working full time for 38 hours would suggest:

$200,000 divided by 1950 hours/year

gives $102.56 per hour in labor costs.

If we then say that 80% of the running cost is labour and the rest overheads then that gives an estimate ballpark of at minimum $123 per hour.

I would say around $130-$150 per hour absolute minimum.

Negative people... have a problem for every solution. Posts are commentary and are not necessarily endorsed by RAIL Back on Track or its members.

The labour costs are less significant for provision of rail services than 80% - I believe the draft CBC document sets out a bit on that point.

In the end its $371 per hour as I discovered

That's why moving to driver only operations with ETCS 2 is so imperative.

SurfRail

Not really.  The labour cost is 60% or less for rail, halving the traincrew requirement will not yield double the frequency on a revenue neutral basis.  It would certainly help though.
