Combining the Queensland Rail total (aggregate) results on the same axes allows a better appreciation of what is happening.

As patronage returns to the network we are seeing signs of loss of OTR reliability.

Cleveland ( ), Caboolture and Beenleigh lines, not the best.

Even aggregate (total) - all lines combined,  Citytrain has dropped off significantly for the first time since March 2020

Sent to all outlets:

11th April 2021

Update on on-time running performance for Citytrain Queensland Rail Month of February 2021

Services, including peak and off-peak, are measured as on-time when they arrive within three minutes and 59 seconds of their scheduled time, except for the interurban services viz. Gold Coast, Rosewood and Sunshine Coast which are measured as on time if they arrive within 5 minutes and 59 seconds.

Target is services > 95% on time
FMA = force majeure adjusted
CI = customer impact (what passengers actually experience)
CP = combined peaks

Overall FMA on-time running (OTR) for February 2021 was below the target of 95%. Cleveland, Beenleigh and Caboolture lines particularly the OTR performance is poor and this is dragging down the total (aggregate) of all lines. See graphs below. This is the first time that Citytrain has dropped below the target of 95% for force majeure adjusted results since March 2020. Customer impact, what passengers actually experience, is worse than that.

The Cleveland line is a single line between Manly and Cleveland and this makes it difficult for Queensland Rail to maintain the peak timetable.  Projections in the 2017 Cross River Rail business case for 10 trains per hour on the Cleveland line in the morning peak were and are non deliverable unless there are significant upgrades to improve capacity between Manly and Cleveland.  Problems on the Cleveland line cause flow on effects as well.
The OTR data is published on or about the 10th each month for the month preceding the last month at https://www.queenslandrail.com.au/aboutus/ourperformance/service-punctuality-and-reliability
It would be good if this delay in reporting the Monthly on-time running data could be reduced from around six weeks to two weeks as for other jurisdictions.

Seems QR can't run on time when the trains are doing what they are designed to do, i.e. carry passengers. Running on time when practically empty isn't a great achievement.
