FY 18/19 was the first year since we started this patronage series that all lines have had a gain in patronage.

Note: FY 19/20 overall patronage in all contract areas has dropped due to the impacts of COVID-19 on passenger transport in the last quarter of 2019/20.

It seemed to be a common theme across many of the bus lines as well that patronage was overall dropping, but with a slight increase from 2017 onwards (much like the rail data above). What was it in these later years that caused a turnaround? I'm assuming something to do with go card fares? I don't actually know when fares have been restructured, etc.

The ' fairer fares ' package was introduced December 2016. This did increase patronage with the effects seen in 17/18 18/19 particularly.

The drop on the Shorncliffe line can be attributed to people using the new Kippa-Ring line in 17/18.
