Combining the Queensland Rail total (aggregate) results on the same axes allows a better appreciation of what is happening.

Going to be interesting to see how OTR tracks as passenger numbers start to increase!

Enjoy it while you can I suppose ...  :bg:

Sent to all outlets:

Update on on-time running performance for Citytrain Queensland Rail Month of May 2020

Greetings,

Passenger numbers dropped significantly during March/April 2020 as COVID-19 restrictions came into effect but recovery in passenger numbers has begun ( https://railbotforum.org/mbs/index.php?topic=13916.msg237650#msg237650 ).

On-time running (OTR) performance improved dramatically as passenger numbers fell. April 2020 was the best monthly OTR performance we have seen and excellent OTR has continued for May 2020 (see graph below).

Prolonged dwell times when passenger loading is heavy  and/or from low level platforms slows trains. This one of the reasons why it is important that when stations are being upgraded that all platforms be raised to full height, full length.  Platform centre raised sections ( ' humps ' ) only, are short sighted and ' penny wise, pound foolish '.

All lines OTR for May 2020 is very good to excellent.

OTR data is from Queensland Rail at https://www.queenslandrail.com.au/aboutus/ourperformance/service-punctuality-and-reliability

All services, including peak and off-peak, are measured as on-time when they arrive within three minutes and 59 seconds of their scheduled time, or 5 minutes and 59 seconds on interurban services - Gold Coast, Rosewood and Sunshine Coast. Target is > 95%.

FMA = force majeure adjusted
CI = customer impact (what passengers actually experience)
CP = combined peaks

Reference at the RAIL Back On Track forum is at https://railbotforum.org/mbs/index.php?topic=13960.0 where detailed analyses of all lines is available.

Going to be interesting to see if Citytrain Queensland Rail can maintain this excellent level of OTR performance as more passengers return.

Best wishes,

Robert
