Saturday night on the Sunshine Coast Line  - call for additional later services

On Saturdays, the last train in the evening from Central to Nambour is scheduled at 8.37pm ( https://translink.com.au/sites/default/files/assets/timetables/190729-sunshine-coast.pdf ).

This is a very early last train for a Saturday, and certainly restricts the opportunities for Sunshine Coast residents to use the railway on Saturday evenings.

Mondays to Fridays the last trains from Central to Nambour are at 10.07pm and 11.37pm.  It would be good if these times could be added to the Saturday timetable too.

The last train on Saturday from Central to the Gold Coast is 12.29am ( https://translink.com.au/sites/default/files/assets/timetables/190729-gold-coast-airport.pdf ).

The Sunshine Coast rail service is an anachronism.  The timetable is lost in the 19th Century.  Time the service was improved.

  • Duplicate the Sunshine Coast Line (#2tracks)
Trying to get any improvements for the Sunshine Coast is just diabolical.
They automatically answer no to everything for rail, be it the promised 9 trains for 2016, the buses to meet the 12 (weekly) Landsborough trains that are disconnected, or the lack of a start date for #2tracks almost 18 months after announcing $160.8 million for it.

I would've thought with how few services the SCL has, the buses would meet them all. Apparently not? And yes, lack of late night Saturday services is reprehensible. Surely there's not that many freight and long distance services that they can't fit a couple of interurbans in? I have a friend from Glasshouse Mountains who drives to Caboolture on weekends if he's visiting Brisbane because of the lack of night service. I suspect others do the same.

As for not being able to get improvements, don't feel the Sunny Coast is on its own in that regard. Seems to be almost no funding for anything, other than that joke of a Flagstone service. That's DTMR's flagship achievement this year.
