$67,000 per bus stop!

Are they flying in workers for this.

I could fly up there and do it single handedly for less.

Quote... The Department of Transport of Main Roads contributed $245,175 from the Passenger Transport Accessible Infrastructure Program and $209,000 from the Bus Stop Shelter Program towards the project and MRC funded $233,500 from the 2020-2021 budget. ...

Maybe there is free wifi and usb charging or something we cannot see ... :o

Might include some access paths too, there is space for a wheel chair in the shelter shown.

That's cheap, if anything.

^^ Just a question about payment.

Are these systems cash-based only, or are they GoCard or open payment. One of the bugbears is that if you go to a new city you have to get a card for your short stay or they only take cash so you need exact (or nearly so) fare.

Are they going to go open payment?

My understanding is that the regional translink areas currently have their own separated payment systems - but will be included in the roll out of the currently under trial new system.  Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

That's correct. All q-connect busses will be getting Smart Ticketing within the next couple years.

SurfRail

Some regional operators currently have their own smartcard systems which will end up being phased out.
